*** The Official HTC Desire (Bravo) Thread! ***

Install some custom ROMs, custom Kernels (for overclocking, releasing more RAM, increasing max volume), edit files on your phone via ADB.

I renamed the HtcLockScreen.apk to a .bkp file and flashed the vanilla lock screen which I think looks miles better.

There's all sorts you can do, you'd have to read around on XDA/Modaco for fancy stuff :p

How are you finding Froyo? Seem stable enough for you so far?

Have you got Apps2SD enabled?

Seems stable yeah. I *think* I have Apps2SD enabled. I followed the guide.

Waiting for my iTunes sync to finish atm.

One thing I noticed, is Flash not included in this ROM? Can't seem to use it in the normal browser.

It's not included at all with Froyo, you need to go and install it from the market!

You can test if you've got Apps2SD enabled by going into Applications > Manage > find an app you've downloaded or whatever and see if you can move it to SD. ;)

Just taken the plunge and bought one of these on ebay. Couldn't resist any longer..

I've bought some screen protectors but I was wondering what kind of protective cases you guys used? I've just had a brief look on ebay but don't want to get something before asking the experts here :p

My brother has one for his iphone which is a rubbery type material but is great protection for his phone.

Thanks

To see if you have it enabled, connect your phone and run:

Code:
adb shell ls -l /data

I think there's several adb files in Pauls root archive, so change the adb name to the one for your OS.

If you see this within the output:
Code:
lrwxrwxrwx root     root              2010-05-20 23:00 app-private ->/system/sd/app-private
lrwxrwxrwx root     root              2010-05-20 23:00 dalvik-cache ->/system/sd/dalvik-cache
lrwxrwxrwx root     root              2010-05-20 22:59 app -> /system/sd/app

Then AP2SD is working (you won't have the dalvik-cache going to /system/sd if you don't have AP2SD+)

Edit: Ahh you're running the FroYo ROM which is different. You need to specify via adb where your applications get installed to in that case, but you needed to do that before the ROM install I believe.

I have the HTC Optional Pouch, quite nice and it's only a tenner :p

You have to take it out to use it though, so you might be after a flip/gel case option?

Hi Robboftw

Yeah I'd be looking at something which just protects the back of the phone, so I imagine I am referring to a gel case option going off what you have said.

Something like this then - http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/flexishield-skin-for-the-htc-desire-black-p24206.htm

I'm not a fan of the "gel" feel though so I'd have something like this probably - http://www.mobileden.co.uk/mobilephones/pc/PDair-Leather-Flip-Case-for-HTC-Desire-8390p3801.htm

You can find them far cheaper on eBay though.

Just noticed this - http://www.mobileden.co.uk/mobilephones/pc/HTC-Desire-Accessories-Pack-7315p3931.htm#details

Shame it's out of stock though, you get loads of stuff for £25 :eek:

Right, got all the files needed for root downloaded. Just tried to run the RUU installation, it wanted to update the image to a lower version (Can't remember exact numbers, mine was something.4, it wanted to update to something.3). It said it cannot update and came up with Customer ID Error.

I have an Orange handset flashed to generic rom. I tried using the Nimbu guide posted a page back. Would I need a different guide specific for an Orange handset?

Just flashed a generic rom to get rid of the branded apps etc. You got any other links other than the Nimbu one? Will read up on them.

Want to get this done tonight seeing as I've already backed everything up etc. Want to get it over and done with. :p

I've made the Gold Card, put the rootupdate.zip on the card. Entered FASTBOOT. Ran the testruu.exe, it wants to update to 1.15.405.3 from 1.15.405.4. Is it meant to downgrade?

Get the white HTC logo on startup but a few secs later it says Error [131]: Customer ID Error.

Will try again on the laptop as I have a feeling it's got something to do with this PC..
