*** The 2010 Gym Rats Thread ***

Benny you don't love Skull crushers?

I love them like the fat kid loves cake!
SC's follwed by closegrip bench without pause. Hmm tricep doms.

On another note, my little hotel gym got an extra 100kg in plates and that incline leg press. Ah man do I love that!

That same day though I was awestruck! A polish guy came in, built like a tank, did his warm ups, squats at 160kg effortless, then loaded all the plates on the sled and placed all the 30kg dumbbells and some 25kg ones on top.

Then pushed out 5 sets of 10 reps easily. I found out today the guy is 51 :O

I bow down to his Alpha powers.

hey everyone
new to the forums, liking the keen gym attitudes here
one question, are there any particular brand of protein supplements you recommend over others? so far i'm just taking the weider promax
i try to eat as much lean meat as possible but because of my job it's kind of hard to find time to cook

Protein is protein, although Myprotein.co.uk sells in bulk and far cheaper than retail solution or other online ones.

Although I don't really see why people need supps, I can understand when doing something mad like GHVT or something similar, but other than that whole food is much better choice.

If you can bring meals with you, get some tins of fish, nuts, sammy's and fish fillets that you can either micro at work or home and just take with you.

Why did it make you laugh?

A cheat meal once in a while doesn't do any harm

First session in the gym back home today:

Flat Bench
WU:60KG x 17
Feeler set: 80KG x 5
Working:
105KG x 5
105KG x 5
105KG x 5
105KG x 5
105KG x 3, x 1 spot, x 1 negative.

Incline DB Press
40KG x 8
40KG x 6
40KG x 6

Dips
Left my dipping belt in the locker so just did 3 sets @ bodyweight with some partials, statics holds etc.

Decline Cable Flyes x 3 sets x 8 - 10
Low To High Cable Flyes x 3 sets x 8-10

Don't know what weight these were as the stacks on our cross overs give the weight in lbs & kilos but neither seem any where near what they claim.

Overhead Tricep Rope Extensions x 4 sets pyramiding weight
Straight Bar Tricep Push Down x 4 sets pyramiding weight

Decided to throw in some lateral raises as my old training partners new training partner suggested a change in stance, lat & trap positioning and it worked incredibly well they ballooned right up.
Was a good session, best I've done on 5x5 so far hopefully get them all out next time.

Measured my arm pump as they felt pritty big and just tipped over 17" at last! Gun club temporarily! Not sure what they are cold now, last time around 16.5". Got some more progress shots taken, very unflattering though, stupid iPhone camera!

Yeaaa nice one mate. Take a pic then you're in for ever :p

What do you do tricep wise?:p

skull crushers, cgbp, cable pull downs, French press, dips

Not kickbacks :p

Close Grip Bench Press and Dips should be all you really need. Though to really isolate them some form of cable extension (including overhead) is favourable :)

these are basically all you need.

Done :p

Also waiting for FF to stroll along with his cannons followed shortley by Tank with the artillery!

nah. You've done brilliantly I'm not one to steal people's thunder. :) nice work buddy. :)

Just back from the Gym. Started off with some Dips, 3x5 14kg assisted. These were quite easy and I think I'll be needing a dipping belt soon. Then did HIIT on the concept 2. 6 x 20 seconds all out followed by 40 seconds rest. Working my way up to 8x20. Once I hit that I'll start dropping the rest time. It didn't fry me as much as the last time. My lungs were absolutely burning but not today. Should have gone for a 7th in hindsight. Followed by a lazy steam and chinwagging with the reception girls. Off for some retail therapy now that I've eaten. :p

Lovely day outside. Glad I've taken a day off!

By the way Freefaller, what's you input on AGVT now that you've finished it?

Happy with strength/mass gains?
I'm planing to give it a go at the end of the summer and would apreciate some feedback from someone who tried it.

Quick question:

Say I want to weigh 100g of potato for the carbs, do i weigh 100g before I cook it, or after I cook it?
