*** The Official HTC Desire (Bravo) Thread! ***

Actually yeah looking at the additions I'll just install and stick with MCR 3.1 and update as it goes :D

I have to reformat my SD card via the phone as the phone says the card is corrupted, no biggy, I keep regular sd root backups so all is good :p

I'm looking at MCR. I've had my desire 48 hours, and don't like sense.

What I really want to be able to do is use the stock launcher, and get rid of all the htc sense stuff (as old youtube vids showed was possible with really early desires). Is that possible with MCR 3.1?

Yes, you can remove it using the kitchen, but you have to pay :(

Khaaan, did you have any issues? What OS are you using? When I get to step 2 (as in, step 2 windows.bat) and it asks you to plug the phone back into the usb slot, the phone is never recognised (just says, no device found).

I'm using windows 7 x64 with HTC Sync and the x64 vista drivers.

Just wondered if you'd share any caveats you came across to help you

It's pretty easy chippie, use Modaco's guide r5 like me and you should be fine :D

Now begins the long night of restoring all my settings and apps!

Windows 7 x64 too with the HTC Android bootloader drivers when in recovery mode (Windows found them automatically). I do not have HTC Sync installed.

You'll hear Windows ding that a device has been disconnected (when entering fastboot to go to recovery) then a few seconds later (don't do anything until you hear it) you'll hear the device connected ding, at this point begin step 2!

Got a busy weekend, but have monday off work, so will probably do it then.

I've not got much on the phone yet, just had a play and decided to get shot of sense, and use a custom rom before I get too much set up!

Gone for :) Modaco's 3.1 with default options.

Yeah the bootloader drivers should be found automatically. Once htc sync is installed it can be uninstalled as the drivers remain.

As I'm sure you'll agree Khaaan!, the complexity of rooting is blown out of proportion :p

Good for us, if we ever want a new ROM, stick it on the SD Card, Recovery and Flash, win :D

It's a bit more of a longer process than on my HTC Magic as you have to start the recovery script and have it USB connected to the PC but once Full root is released we'll be back to the old days where you just put the zip on SD, reboot the phone holding [back] and flash the zip \m/

Using pays atm. I'm liking it but don't like the fact the launcher has no shortcuts in it wasting loads of space. Lots of strange icon changes too. I'll probably go with modaco tomorrow and launcher pro :)

The only thing thats stopping me from eventually rooting is having to set everything back up with a new ROM....

Is there anything out there that will back EVERYTHING up on the phone and then restore it after I flash a new ROM so that the only differences I see is that its a new ROM i.e. I dont need to set up email accounts, phonebook contacts (phone, not Google), ringtones, calendars, home screen layouts, widgets, apps etc etc.

Basically I just want to be able to turn the phone on and have it as if I didnt flash a new ROM until I want to start changing things myself.

Is this possible ??

I know I've read a few things about the battery getting better with time but I'm charging nearly every day. I wouldn't say I'm using the phone a awful lot has anyone else found this?.

Any advice on this please guys .

Thanks.

I have to charge everyday and i am by no means a heavy user, only really disappointing thing of this phone is the battery.
