You might need to reset it to defaults perhaps? something went wrong during OTA :/

I don't remember if the stock recovery/fastboot menus offer rsetting of the phone (hold back or volume down when powering on) bnut it may be worth a try.

Or reset in the phone itself before it crashes.

Can I still backup and restore?

Not without root. But if MyBackupPro runs without the phone crashing then yes (without root features).

The phone can go a few hours without crashing, but last night was really annoying as my alarm didn't go off this morning

Danger Phoenix, root it and put McR 3.1 on there, see if it still persists, that way you can filter out a hardware fault (or not)

I have been tempted to root the phone and install one of the Froyo ROMs but have been a bit hesitant.

Rom Update Utility, it's basically a simple program that does everything for you. Tends to be provided by HTC, but has been modified by Modaco in the past etc.

Try and install it again over the top of it, might help you never know, or find and go back to an older one.

I like those screenshots Khaaan, might have to have a dabble. Not bothered about having a hacked 2.2 yet, just would like to try some of the stock stuff to see how it compares to Sense.

Still a bit baffled as to all the comings and goings in here, if someone does write a nice clear guide with pictures, that would be awesome

I don't use any POP3 services, Gmail only so couldn't say.

Tried to install Sparta this morning, 3 downloads and 3 flashes and it kept getting caught in a boot loop, ended up with Bravesoul, apps2sd working and the obligatory 1267mhz OC.

Ditched Sense straight away, still using Launcher Pro with 5 icon rows, and yes, as per the instructions they look gash in landscape.
