World Cup 2010 - GROUP G (Brazil, North Korea, Ivory Coast, Portugal) **spoilers**

Yep id be surprised if somehow he plays....he wont be as good as he normally is...seems like a lot of Chelski players are out of the WC ie Essien, Ballack, Droggy and Mikel as well.

Mikel is terrible, the times i have seen him play he has crumbled under pressure, and i think he even set up 2 goals for the opposing team, 1 of which was in a crucial match, champions league or some other important game. How he is still in the chelsea squad i will never know, he wouldn't even make it in the SPL.

There's no way Drogba is playing a world cup with a fractured elbow unless they drug him up with painkillers, even then he won't be half as effective and his movement will be limited.

depends how bad the fracture is, fractures start to heal within 2 weeks. so i would keep him in the squad and if it got better quick he could make it to at least 1 game

It would probably make him a better player if anything. Instead of diving and rolling around faking injury he would try and stay on his feet and bulldoze through teams like he does when he is on form!

Don't forget, Drog earned all of that money by being a cheat! If he has built a few schools and wells, fair enough, that brings his karma a little closer to neutral... :)

My opinion of course :)

So footballing professionalism is roughly on a par with philanthropy in how you judge a person?

I'm off to tell Paolo Maldini he can kick as many beggars as he likes.

Please do, I love the idea of Maldini kicking beggars just because he's got karma to spare from his deportment on the pitch. :D

Also I'm afraid your signature is slightly too large, it's 4 lines of text maximum and that looks like six at the moment.

Well it would be interesting to see how Drogba has influenced children on the whole;
I mean there's the hundreds of children that will benefit from his schools in Africa and well done to him for that, but there's also the thousands of children worldwide that have watched his onfield antics and effectively been taught that being a disgraceful cheat is conducive to becoming the world's best striker.

If you robbed a bank and gave a portion of it to charity, you'd still be reprehensible, right?

Yes but, robbing a bank. Falling over on a football pitch. Commiting a crime. Being a bit soft. I'm not even going to draw the lines here. I mean, really.

Thought it might be, but I couldn't tell. My browser was wrapping the text. Ta.

cheating is a part of the game now, whether you would like to admit that or not, everyone does it. why single him out?

you should be having a go at fifa, uefa and the FA of every country for allowing it to happen by not punishing players who dive.

if a player has dived and cost the other team the game. if after the fact the other team make an appeal with video evidence, the player should be fined and banned, also the win should go in the favour of the innocent side, overturning any previous decision. this would stop diving entirely, but its never going to happen so your going to have to live with it. if i was in the box and got clipped i would go down like a ton of bricks too, after all i would be on a £10,000 goal bonus and a £10,000 win bonus as well as my normal wages. who wouldn't for £20,000?

Rooney also dives, but oh no we cant say anything bad about him because he plays for the team you are supporting. If your gonna have a go at Drogba paint Rooney in the same light too.

oh absolutely, a lot of players cheat, and my opinion that Drogba is the worst of a bad lot is purely down to being a bigoted gooner :D I have absolutely no empirical evidence to suggest he is worse than others.
With Drogba though it isn't just the diving, it's the constant petulant whining to the referee, the negative body language, the way he goes in hard as nails on defenders but then goes limp the moment he's touched, and most egregious of all, the way he scores on us every damn game! :(

C Ronaldo is the worst for it by a mile

Out of favour i suppose...bit suprised that Dunga didnt take him along...Ronaldinho and Adriano have also missed out too.

pato isnt a team player, he is a luxury you cant afford in the world cup. ronaldhino is past it, his fitness, stamina and speed have all faded. adriano has had an alcoholic past with severe mental breakdowns and has walked out on his team in the past.

i would have taken pato and ronaldhino as backup, marcelo too, but never first team players like they used to be in the past.

i noticed there are 2 silva's in the brazil squad in linoge's post as well as gilberto.

i can only think of 1 player which is gilberto silva, so unless theres a few guys with the same name

Without a fit Drogba can see Ivory Coast struggling. North Korea will be the group whipping boys - nil points. Brazil and Portugal to slug it out for 1st.
