*** The Official HTC Desire (Bravo) Thread! ***

Once the Desire has 720p recording and official 2.2 then there wont be much the iPhone 4 has over the Desire.

To be honest I'd have the Desire at it stands now, by a country mile. Unless the software release for the new iPhone OS starting now is incredible, which I doubt it will be.

Absolutley, I love my Desire. Today I took a picture, uploaded to Photobucket (using the free photobucket app), then shared the link on a forum post... all with the Desire! Bye bye laptop! lol ;)

Oh wow, you've broken the mould right there Steve...

It was a lol moment.

So far as much as I can see iPhone 4 is/has:

* Thinner
* Slightly longer battery life
* 720p Video recording
* Multitasking
* And.....

We've added folders, and a whole bunch of other things I won't have time to demo today, but I'd like to demo these few things.

OMG! :eek: Folders??!?! If folders is one of the things he IS demoing, what astounding features is he not showing?? Drag and drop? A spell checker? Cut and paste?! :p

As I've just said in the Apple thread, if HTC released the Evo over here with a GSM band (so it worked), it would beat the 4G hard.

The problem is, I want an Android phone. It appeals to me much more, I like tinkering with things and the wall of apps iPhone style is completely useless imo. BUT, iPhone still absolutely rapes for Apps. Actual, every day usable apps there are chuffing tonnes of them.
I'm not sure I'm willing to risk going Android and hoping that there increasing market share slowly brings more official and impressive apps to the market? Will they even bother? With droves of people buying the iPhone/iPad/iTouch because its an Apple product, they've completely monopolised the smartphone app market. 100 Million devices, that is a ludicrous market share.

Oh well, I have until July to decide on my contract so we'll find out! I'm sure I'll have an iPhone or 20 to play with at the office as everyone buys theirs the day they're out!

Well, looking at the iPhone 4. I think Google and HTC will be very pleased, they have nothing to fear from that.

Android 2.2 is well ahead already to be honest.

Google have put little effort into the market so far, they will easily make up ground on Apple, it's Google after all ;)

I agree. I like the look of the iPhone but the geeky nature of Android wins me over every time. iPhone is more mainstream which is a shame cause Android is very easy to use. I've converted two Nokia lovers to Android based phones and they will not be going back.

how do i use my same igoogle home page from my laptop on the Desire, I can log into igoogle, but I dont get all my url shortcuts, just a basic set.

Im using opera for web browsing.

The developers will always start with the device that holds the greatest market share. But ask yourself this... will Apple ever allow other manufacturers to use their OS? Not in a million years, which means that iPhone OS is only ever going to be on a very very limited range of handsets. Android is gaining on Apple with the help of HTC/Motorola/Sony etc. It won't be too long before Android starts eating into the Symbian user base and when that happens, it will no doubt hold a greater market share than Apple's OS.

Don't forget though that iPhone OS and thus its apps, is across three platforms. iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch. Between them thats a huge market, and I assume this is why the app market is so chuffing big.

Has anyone 'official' started to do decent Droid apps? By official I mean stuff like the SkySports score center, Shells nearest vPower finder, British Gas meter reading stuff? Simple boring stuff thats polished nicely and is actually useful. Android is rammed with apps that make the phone more interesting to use, new launchers, task managers overclockers etc. etc. but there seems to be little in the way of actual real world useful apps.

Disclaimer: I currently have WinMo, there's tonnes of customisation and clever phone oriented software for it, but need information on the move? No luck sir! I am upgrading first week of July so have until then to decide!

Chris1712, Apps like the ones you mentioned will start appearing this year. There are probably quite a few around now however.

The Market is doing fairly nicely considering Google have done very little to help it on the way, they will start getting big companies to make the Apps for it soon, just like the iPhone has.

Oh the memories :p

I'd be ringing up O2 (hopefully they'd have it) and get off the simplicity contract I just transferred to if that happened!

As it is I'm going to wait til september and stay with my HD as all the phones out at the moment have their problems.:(

What is your flash attached to Khaaan?:confused::o:p

I wonder what HTC's bank balance is going to look like at the end of this year? It seems both the Desire in the UK and the EVO in the US are both like gold dust, rather more popular than expected it seems. :p

I really hope HTC high end handsets continue in the direction the EVO is going.

It is an utterly superb device, I would have imported one long ago if it could connect to GSM :(

It looks stunning too, which HTC phones have lacked a bit until now :)

EVO + Froyo = Mobile market win :p
