*** The Official HTC Desire (Bravo) Thread! ***

Well, at least you are getting it sorted chippie. If this was two weeks ago you would have been shafted :( :p

Will be nice with a user-friendly guide to follow though just in case it happens to anyone here, it probably would be quite popular internet wide too!

I now re-rooted, and now can get onto the phone to put the stuff there to un brick it :D:D:D

You should be fine if you continue without an SD Card I think, I'm not 100% on that.

Then when you have the phone running just format it as normal and job done.

I booted the phone normally and formatted it again. When I then reboot and try to put in recovery mode, I select it, then it comes up with the pink T-Mob ring and shows a phone with exclamation mark on the screen? "step2.bat" won't find it in this state...

That must be the T-Mobile equivalent for the stock HTC one, which is just a black phone with a red ! above it.

It should find it, that's normally the screen you are on when/before you push recovery.bat to the phone.

Have a nose around Modaco/XDA, I'm sure it's pretty common, I doubt it's related to the SD Card, or put it back in and try :p

I think it's the error 42 in step1 causing me a problem. Using the SD card that came with it, but read people are having problems with x64 Windows. Going to try tomorrow using my laptop, not tonight though, I'm frazzled.

Picture the scene... You have bought a Desire and are surrounded by hardcore Apple iphone boys. What can I put on my phone that the iphone either can not do or apps it does not have?

Yes I am sad :)

Cheers!

Thats the problem I had and its to do with the gold card. Just went through the process again through Virtual PC and it worked fine.

So yeah... used my sisters laptop earlier today to try the RUU again.

All seemed to be going well until it told me that it could not update my phone and to find the correct RUU. :(

You sound as if you don't know what you're doing. Haven't you got a tick list. :D

Show them your home screen, then laugh as they have just a boring application menu to look at past the lock screen :p

I must be miserable git as I'm sitting here overclocking my PC with the Desire. I can even switch it on/off, now that is a smartphone. :D

:D

Did you install HTC Sync on her laptop?

Helpful.

Did you install HTC Sync on her laptop?

Yep, had it installed already. It was progressing and said deleting user data, then sending, and then brought up that message.

It was easier to root and flash a custom ROM than it is to restore it back to default. :p

Having issues rooting. I get to the HBOOT screen and start recovery, with the red triangle on the screen.

I need to execute recovery-linux.h in the pushfiles dir (I'm using Ubuntu live CD). I get this error:

Insufficient permissions for device.

What do I do now?

try running the SU command and logging in as root user.

It will ask you for a password, believe it will be blank for a LiveCD so hit enter.

Then try to run the command. :)

./recovery-linux.sh
