*** The Official HTC Desire (Bravo) Thread! ***

from what I understand it's a mid-contract upgrade on the phone, they don't just hand out £400 phones for little over half price for fun now ;)

Possibly, but considering you could easily get one for under £340 if you shop around, it's hardly a little over half price :p

If you read the thread, people have been getting them at that price even if they're on simplicity contracts. So if you know someone on one then you can get it at that price too it seems.

Just giving some feedback. I tried the ClockworkMod Recovery with Pays BS 2.0 and it worked a treat. No PC and took about 1-2 mins to flash the rom, very quick. Only thing you can't do is partition for A2SD.

Running on a TMOB 0.75

I spotted an option for partioning, does it not do ext3?

Is there away to recover the configuration and installations after flashing a new rom. I have Titanium Backup would this do it? If not what are people using?

Took about 1 Hour to setup my phone again which is still ongoing.

Titanium Backup will reinstall apps with their data intact and also your phone settings. For some reason I couldn't get Call Logs and Messages back, but I just used Wavesecure to backup and restore the SMS. There is a call log backup feature on wavesecure but I don't get a restore feature.

This is all on the Hero but there's no reason it shouldn't work on the Desire.

Use Titanium for Apps + Apps data (settings) backup and My Backup Pro for data (system settings, sms, mms, call logs etc) backups,

Both should be used IMO.

hey chaps, i really want one of these, im thinking of buying 2nd hand and then selling my 9700 blackberry as im not that far into my contract. i wished i had waited for this.

whats the best price people have seen these for sim free? im looking at a 2nd hand one around £275 ??? hope to get £200 for my bb.

I'm on Pays Sparta at the moment, everything about it seems very good, including battery life.

If you like Sense, go for Modaco 3.1 or Pays BraveSoul.

Find a friend on O2 and you can get one for £285 through retentions.

Otherwise you are looking at lower £3xx figures.

I'll try it now then.

Edit:

It's very nice actually, I tried it a while back and wasn't impressed. I can't yet justify it over LauncherPro as Lpro seems slightly faster and they are quite similar other than that :p I'm liking it's Froyo-ness though!

I might install Froyo 0.7d later and see how that goes, it's not far from full functionality.

Before I rooted, I didn't want to use Launcher Pro because I thought I would miss the Sense UI Widgets.

Now that I have rooted and am using Sparta, I don't even miss the Sense UI.

Also, last night I worked out how to ADB push/remove files from /system/app/ and therefore can select my own collection of applications I want on my phone. I pushed the HTC Photos and HTC Music applications across and my phone is just how I want it.

That combined with Juice Defender, the battery life is a lot longer too :)
