*** The all new iPhone 4 thread - Keep all iPhone 4 stuff in here ***

They share their 3G coverage with T-Mobile so you get the same coverage as T-Mobile plus the coverage from any Three operated base stations, same if your on T-Mobile, the sharing goes both ways. As for the 2G coverage, it's provided solely by Orange under a roaming agreement that Three have with them. Three don't operate a 2G network themselves.

damn was hoping the 2g will be with o2 as that the best 2g coverage where i work being inside the buildings....

Interesting, seems I used 78megs last month, which seems to be a pretty average month for me - that's much less than I thought it would be.
In that case I'm not fussed about having a 500meg allowance.

Agreed, I've been checking my bills, the **** O2 network makes sure we don't use very much! 500MBytes is plenty for me.

I have just been working out where I use my iPhone the most, and I would say 90% of my time is either at home or at a clients using the WiFi.

The longest I seem to use 3G is on the bus! :p

When I first got my iPhone I used it a fair bit as where I used to work had no wifi - plus I was in "must have moar apps mode" for a while :p

The real question now is who will have the better contracts come launch. O2 has superb 3G coverage in Manchester and where I live, so a little reluctant to change to an unknown quantity.

Can't see past T-Mobile at the moment considering the potential coverage once they fully integrate with Orange. Expecting them to provide better data FUP than Orange too (can't see how they can't match their android FUP of 3GB)

Only problem is I'm after iPhone specific SIM only contract plans to add to flexibility...

ps3ud0

Just phoned T-Mobile to get a PAC code to go elsewhere and they've advised it's coming at the end of the month.

I'm well chuffed, means I should get to keep my discounted line rental.

Excellent :D

iPhone Simplicity or just simplicity

So, i was in Phones4U today and the guy was telling me u cant use simplicity on an iPhone, thats why theres a Simplicty for iphone tariff. I told him yes i can cos thats what im using now (with data bolt on) etc etc and on and on he went. So whats the difference? is it basically that the Simplicity for iPhone includes the unlimited data? he was telling me it was a special sim.... He then proceeded to try and sell me a vodafone package which was more expensive than what i was getting now but with less 'benefits'

So whats the difference?

Simplicity for iPhone basically includes an unlimited (at the moment) data bolt on as part of the deal plus free wifi on The Cloud and BTOpenzone and also visual voicemail.

Essentially it's a package that matches the iPhone hardware, there are a lot of people who use the standard simplicity who don't have wifi or even 3G enabled phones.

How can i check my data useage over the last few months with o2 ? want to see if this is going to create me a problem

true :) dem bruvs sorted me out in the past. theyve left now so i guess i wont be returning. defintely on the look out to see if i can strike up a good orange or tmobile deal though. blokey was trying to sell me a more expensive package for mess minutes etc purely because he was saying Vodafone are far superior. he was then surprised when i said no thanks :D

Looks like the best way for me to go about this is to recycle my 3GS or sell it then use the early upgrade to buy my way out of my contract then get an iPhone on a new contract, if it is similar costing to the 3GS it will probably cost me about £150 altogether and start a new contract.

When is the merge going to happen between orange and t-mobile ?

Real soon now. ;)

They've renamed the parent UK company to something silly like Everything Everyone. According to my source it's going to take them some time to merge the networks. Existing names will stay with them getting repositioned with Orange as the mainstream and T-Mobile as the value brand.

Only thing I hate about other carriers is that the carrier name doesn't fit properly on the iPhone UI.

3, O2-UK and Orange being the exceptions.
