*** The Official HTC Desire (Bravo) Thread! ***

Anyone using Rom Manager and tried partitioning the SD card for A2SD ext support?

Went through the menus and set it up, said warning will wipe the card and reboot but did nothing. Still got data on the card. Do you need to go into recovery for this to work? Previously with Recovery Clockwork I had to hold the power and vol down and then select recovery.

I'm sure the fun will wear off when we eventually brick the phone.

been there, done that

see my post earlier in this thread on un bricking your usb bricked desire. it's quite easy, although i recommend keeping your golcard, as you may have to repeat step 1 of the rooting process.

Good to know we have some experience with this on here.

i wish it hadn't been me though. took ages to sort out as the 'guide' on modaco was rather vague, which is why i then wrote my complete step by step guide. i should probably put it on a website somewhere, rather than just in this thread.

Even I struggle with some of their write ups and I develop software for a living!

Good idea.

Quick obvious question here.

Does rooting your phone just open it up without changing anything i.e. if I root my stock Desire, will it be identical to an unrooted Desire just with more access for things that need root like MyBackup and Titanium Backup etc ??

Quite happy to root my phone as long as it does this.

Yes, if you root it it will look and feel "normal" but you have options to add extras like Titanium backup.

But you can also go the next step and add a custom rom, these range from ones that look just like the standard HTC Sense interface but with the bloatware removed and extra bits added to custom roms that are based on the standard Android with no HTC Sense.

I went with a Rom that looks like the standard HTC interface (I like Sense) but has some extras but also has things removed giving you more memory space and its also quicker and the battery lasts longer than before.

Im using Pays 1.5 but he has just updated it to version 2.0 so ill probably flash with that later tonight.

Once rooted, is it possible to back up my current Orange ROM so I can put it back on if it needs to go back to Orange?
