Game moments which you've just thought.... "My goodness"

Is it HL2 where you cross the big bridge over the gorge? That was the first time I ever really felt a feeling of being too high.

Gunship on Amiga - The first proper simulator I saw. I was way too young at about 8 or 9 but I loved watching my dad play it

Shadow of the beast - Music and graphics were incredible for the time.

Stunt car racer on Amiga - The first 3D driving game I played

Doom - The first time I saw a demo of Doom on my Aunties 386 I almost jizzed. Getting the supershot gun was also special, especially the sound

Donkey Kong Country on SNES - This was way ahead of its time for graphics and everything really

Crash Bandecoot demo on PS1 in the shop - It ran so smooth, looked great and was very fun

Virtua fighter - The first 3D fighting game I played

Unreal 1 on 3DFX - This wasnt a my goodness moment it was jaw dropping moment. It was way way ahead of its time. Reflections, smoke, the huge outside areas, water effects...

Need for Speed 2 SE on 3DFX - IMO still the best of the series. Great graphics, fast and fun

Half Life - The first game that had a 'proper' storyline

Farcry Demo - The islands, water, sunsets etc looked amazing

Crysis - Similar to same feeling as playing Farcry

The one that has made me go "my goodness" the most has been Unreal, closely followed by Doom

Mass Effect ending, powerful stuff. Played the game through six times & it still gets me.

Mass Effect 2 beginning, when your walking through the ship and see a gaping hole to space, daunting!

Warcraft III cinematic sequences, particularly the Orc campaign, especially Thrall and Grom Vs Manoroth

Such a shame to see where the Warcraft series has gone after reading all the books and playing the first three games. Now with Activision on board there's no chance of redeeming it =/

lol i was going to post the same thing.

I have vertigo and i actually **** myself and had to have a ciggy to calm my self down. Great level that one.

I was running to the next base on BC2 as current base had been taken and I heard a jeep to my right, he was heading straight for me in an attempt to run me over but there was an AT mine there, he went right over it, the jeep exploding in a massive orange ball, it flew into the air coming straight for me, flipped, hit the ground on its roof and landed literally a right in front of where I stood, one of the most amazing thing i've ever seen in a game it looked fantastic and I stood there for a few seconds in awe at what just happened

Oh and STALKER

Far to many moments to list but the most recent moment that stands out is where you spend all that time getting the kit and people together to head to the tunnel to go to Pripyat and the doors open and you walk into the dark tunnel, amazing

Theres so many over the years!

Assasins Creed 2 the story and the ending was a brain twister

I'll always remember the tombs in Thief or breaking into a mansion and pulling off a robbery, hiding in the bogs in System Shock 2 bricking it from the zombie things, I miss you Looking Glass Studios, sooooo much :(

Metro 2033 when you get a close up of one of those rat mutant things right in your face, nasty

lol. anyone got a screenshot of this level, cant remember it

I remember it perfectly but theres two bridges and I cant remember from which episode is which, one is a really really high rail way with a little house on a cliff when you first get to it, the other is the one where you have to move the cars to get your car across, the really high bridge is an amazing bit of gaming. HL2 series if full of awesome moments, the ending of Episode 2 I was like nooooooooo WTF!

Xcom: Enemy Unknown

A decent way through the game, i landed at a crash site. Steped my scout onto the ramp only to see indicators flash up "1..2..3.." pew pew pew Scout dead. Sent another one onto the ramp. Pew pew pew. Scout 2 dead. FFFFFF i thought. But i had a trick. High Explosive yo! So i got it out into the soldiers hand. Primed it and would wait for the next turn before throwing it and toast them.

Little did i know that they hand mind probes and GALING GALING GALING. Soldier was scared stiff and dropped all his weapons on the floor. Yup you guessed it High Explosive and all. POW Everyone dead... Xcom spacecraft lost. So scary

Think my main one was when I discovered Counterstrike and TFC, I just found it incredible that you could play in a team against other people from around the country, it ran so well, even on dial up, I still play them both now occasionally and thats well over a decade later.

Small part in the original half life, your walking through a pipe half deep in water.

Solider opens the door at the end of it, drops in an explosive charge.

You can love halflife for many things, god bless it bought moments like that to games:)

Bioshock - descending in the Bathysphere for the first time and seeing all of Rapture.

Oblivion - First leaving the sewers and seeing how amazing it looked for its time.

Mass Effect 2 - When they turn the lights up on the Normandy 2 - brought a huge grin to my face.

Silent Hunter 3 - attacking a convoy for the first time.

Call of Duty - Crossing the Volga in the Stalingrad mission before being sent out without a gun.

GTA4 on my ps3 when i caved and got one was also a bit of an my goodness moment as id never sat down with a HD game before.

I'm sorry to ruin your memory but GTA4 on the PS3 isn't a HD game (by the 'definitiion' - pardon the pun - of HD). *feels evil*

I'm sad to say one of my best gaming moments was in WoW. I had started playing quite soon after it came out so there was still a buzz about the place. Then while questing around the human starting village (goldshire?) rumour spread about an incoming raid by the horde. Everyone waited in excitement until eventually the leading wave of Taurons broke through the trees in the south. It was a fantastic introduction to the game.

Freespace 2 :D When that huge ship warps in out of nowhere (and it was freaking huge!) And wipes your entire fleet out in moments.

(Too long ago to remember names :( Sorry)

This!
picked up mass effect because i was bored and wanted a new game couple months after release, absolutely loved it :D

I know it's not PC, but the end of MGS4 when your going into the core and the screen goes split screen to show the battle on the ship, and the eventual fight between Snake and Liquid
