World Cup 2010 - GROUP G (Brazil, North Korea, Ivory Coast, Portugal) **spoilers**

Brilliant Brazil goals, both really good goals, especially the second. The pass from Robinho was class.

Ronaldo's diving was disgraceful, he must have no shame, the one near the end where Zokora was behind him and he touched Ronaldo's shoulder with about 2 fingers and he went down like a sack of ****, it makes for hard viewing really.

Spot on...i didnt see much from NK going forward...soon as they got into the Brazil half, they lost the ball and then it was all brazil with the relentless pressure....NK were lucky to lose by one goal....but they did defend well soim sure they will fustrate the likes of Ronaldo and Ivory Coast.

the way you suggested that ''all they did was defend'' is total rubbish and completely unfair to them though. they tried whenever they could to attack 'properly'

I still think it was an amazing performance against "the best team in the world"..

NK did themselves proud, and the goal was just the icing on the cake :)

I thought Brasil looked classy, they're littered with great players.

NK did really well 0-0 at half time.

They hardly tried to attack, committing one or two men forward to random counter attacks still means they were ultra defensive.

It was probably the most defensive performance we'll see all tournament, they spent most of the game with their entire team way inside their own half. I can respect what they did but let's not give them too much credit, they were incredibly negative

Classic quote from Ronaldo:

"Sometimes it's difficult that the referee doesn't give fouls because he thinks I dived," said the Real Madrid winger.

Classic!!! Maybe he should watch himself play

That is just complete rubbish, complete and utter rubbish. Every single time they had the ball they pushed into Brazils half, losing it because they aren't good enough is NOT the same as being defensive and saying it is , well, is just completely wrong.

They weren't defensive by any measure of the word.

A defensive performance would be one of two things, Inter, doing their holding onto a lead/draw by quite literally never letting more than one man in the oppositions half, getting the ball in defense and kicking it to their keeper with no intention of trying to score. Or getting the ball and passing it around defense to waste time as long as possible then hoofing it. NK did neither of those things, they got the ball they went forwards, straight away, infact they took multiple shots though they did seem to scared to try to play through the back 4(which is one of the bets at the tournament and with Lucio probably having the single most experienced, even if he did make a mistake for their goal).

They got 3 corners, had 10 shots, conceded only one more foul than Brazil and won 3 corners, all of which is very rare in a side that ONLY defends. We've already seen a half dozen teams who tried less hard offensively.

THeres a world of difference between not very good at attacking, and not trying to attack, NK were the former.

I agree with drunkenmaster, NK were hardly what I would call defensive.

Watch Aberdeen if you want to see defensive :p Win the ball and boot it up the field and waste time by passing sideways, NK at least tried to do something.

LOL look at the stats and tell me who spent most of the time defending;)....over 70% ball possession for Brazil and around 20ish% for the NK...to me they were extremely defensive...i cant fault them for that but if it wasnt Brazil playing then it would have been an extremly dull match...thankfully 2 superb goals from the Brazilians made sure of that.

Indeed but seems like some people cant see that...i wonder if people ie DM were watching the same game as us.

Problem for Brazil was that they were trying to rip them apart from the middle and werent having much luck till the first goal by Maicon...superb goal despite people saying it was a cross lol...for a cross he got it completely wrong:p. As for NK having 11 men behind the ball doesnt make for entertaining football....NK got extremely lucky with their goal, it was a shoddy defensive error that led to their goal.

Was reading today that the temp was close to freezing out there...still dont understand why they decided to play the WC during winter time in SA....hopefully we will never see another WC played in Africa.

Anyhow looking forward to the Spain game...please please for the love of god let that be a 5 goal thriller:p

dm you do realise the reason they lost the ball was because of lack of support not lack of ability. NK's number 9 did excellently to repeatedly hold up the ball for 10~ seconds, yet after all that time he was helped by 1 or 2 team mates compared to 6 or 7 Brazilians. They were woefully outnumbered everytime they went forward, it had nothing to do with ability.

You really do see games entirely differently to me.

To me it was incredibly reminiscent of Chelsea vs Barca, without the good counter attacks

did you watch the match because that shows more than stats ? they where massively outplayed but they where not 'only' defending. they attacked whenever they had the opportunity too. thats not being defensive.

people need to watch some real 'extremely' defensive teams. ones who get 1 shot off all game and just hoof it upfield whenever they get it.

It was probably the most defensive performance we'll see all tournament,
lol

statswise switzerland played more defensive today and i think they only made one actual run up the pitch as opposed to NK's multiple attempts...

Can anyone tell me if Nani is still going to be playing?

The news reports seem to contradict themselves saying hes out of the World Cup but will be able to play in a week ??

He got sent home and they brought in another player before the tournament started. Able to play in a week just means the injury is healed.
