That's not right without root you can use the htc_ime mod keyboard.

Just tried that rock player, and when it comes out/hits the next beta I definately think it'll be worth a look.
Hopefully the creator will be able to get .h264/mp4 acceleration working, because that seems to be about the only thing it's missing.
Annoying thing is the desire will play back some of the mp4s I've got well in terms of video, but no audio, this app TRIES to play the audio but because its running the file so slowly the audio drops out after half a second.

gutted i cant call anyone without editing 
gutted right now. dropped my desire in the bath about 10 minutes ago. Turns on, tries to boot and dies. Is it worth trying to dry it out and all that or shall I just not mess and go through insurance people. I'm with Aviva insurance (Band B) through cpw. Never made a claim before, what to do..
i have plus 44 so i can call/text from abroad. and yes they all came from gmail, but does it sync from there? or do i have to re add them

i see, how do i get it to only import a group of friends, as it seemed to add everyone, even though i have my friends as mobile contacts in a group called friends
Take off the back and stick in the airing cupboard overnight. Probably won't help but worth a try.

Anyone using a2sd+dalvik-cache2sd?
Having problems getting it to work. Using Rom Manger I have created a Partition 512MB with no swapfile. Becuase Rom Manger creates a EXT2 I have converted it to EXT3 with GParted. I then flashed the ROM with Rom Manager, it formated the SDEXT OK but using ConnectBot and typing "ls -l /data" I get "permission denied". Which suggests a2sd is not working. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

grrrrrrrrrrrr im pulling my hair out with the contacts, i just wanna add the gmail ones that i want not all the other email contacts. i googled it and some people seem to have more options, in gmail i have put them in 'Starred in Android' but it still pulls all the mumma's through. surely there is a way to sync just a certain group, im being dippy help me!
Edit each contact in Google and then select "groups" (just above the contact info) and choose "remove from my contacts".
This will keep the contact in Google (under all contacts) but remove it from the phone one (once it syncs)
