*** The all new iPhone 4 thread - Keep all iPhone 4 stuff in here ***

See you there lol. Do you think 7am is a bit too early? Couldn't you just walk in any time of the day and collect it?

Nail on head to be honest.

Yes, as far as he's concerned (and if I remember rightly), the 'usual' pattern for their launches are:

Early morning to 11am - busy
11am to 13:00 - average (people coming in off street to try and buy)
13:00- busy.

Lousy timing for me as work is having a "thanks for the work for the last 6months" dinner, so will be too sloshed and full to go any later.

Did say to the bloke about getting there at 7am and he said based on past events, I'd probably be leaving between 8.30 and 09:00.

Ive read lots about people going to get their phones from the apple and network stores etc.

Im currently out of contract and need to sign up for a new monthly plan which will prob be with o2.
I dont mind not getting the phone on the 24th but how easy do you think its going to be to sign up to a new 18 month plan online on the 24th and receive the phone the next day on the 25th?

Am I correct in thinking that no network will give existing customers a decent upgrade offer on the iPhone 4????

Just called them... I am correct, however existing customers can get a discount on the 3Gs apparently

iPhone 4 for me, and iPhone 3Gs for the mrs :p

Just to be clear.

If I'm with O2 (happy with the plan etc) and buy a iPhone 4 at the Apple store, can I just either cut down my current SIM or ask O2 to send me a mini SIM to replace it?

Register interest on o2's site select 'online' and select 'buying at launch' it will then bring up entry fields to enter your address so they can send you a micro sim (exactly when is anyones guess).

When you receive the micro sim follow this page to change your details over (current contract or PAYG):

http://swapmysim.o2.co.uk/

I had all this confirmed by o2 when i called the other day. However if you don't want to wait for o2 to send you a sim and change your details over a pair of scissors will also suffice ;)

Hope this helps mate.

i think its still cheaper to buy the handset outright - get your cashback from quidco for around £15 for 32gb then get a sim only vodafone deal and get ~£100 cash back for a 12 monther. thats what im doing anyway. also saves me paying to unlock it if i wud want to in the future, for resale or what not

It does, very much. Thank you.:)

I've just realised. Anyone got any "good ideas" on how to make my normal sim into a microsim (I take it a pair of scissors isn't reliable enough).

Or can I phone Orange and ask them to send me a microsim even if I'm not getting an iPhone through them?

That's my plan too, so it will be £640 Total for 1 Year ;)

Well coming from a 3g 16gb and selling it last month for £285, I was really geared up to buying the iPhone 4. All of a sudden though I'm having a "tightning of belts" moment. I can't believe how cheap some of the 3gs's are going for sale and with Apple only selling an 8gb 3gs model for £419 I've decided to look out for a cheap 32gb 3GS for nearly the same money as I sold the 3g for. In future months I won't be surprised if their used value actually recovers and increases significantly again.

I know I won't get the high def Retina Screen, Facepalm (or whatever it's called), gyroscope, and HD video and the extra battery life. However, I will be £200+ up and I'll be using a 3gs instead of a 3g which will multitask on iOS4 and do everything I need on the same Simplicity plan I was on before.

Hmm, Why have I lost my Apple-fu all of a sudden! Have I missed something...

Send me an email closer to the time (memory like a sieve) and I'll meet you somewhere if you want. Might make time go quicker having someone to talk to.

My sister's taking this opportunity to get herself a good price on a 16GB 3GS, and she waited a whole year for this to happen:p and 3GS will be an improvement over her N95 (besides the camera).

BTW: Don't forget. Anyone buying this SIM free, you'll need your SIM to be MicroSIM.

Orange aren't sending any out until 24th (have argued that they provide the MicroSIM for the iPad, it's the same thing, but they're having none of it).

There are a few "hacks" out there on how/where to cut your normal SIM to fit which is what I'll be doing.
