*** The all new iPhone 4 thread - Keep all iPhone 4 stuff in here ***

Will i be able to do this?
Im not an existing O2 customer, im joining them for the first time (coming from virgin)

I havent got my O2 Sim yet, but i think i might go and get my Simplicity sim sorted this week.

Yup, you can go in and take your email confirmation and get a MicroSim. The site says to sign up for iPhone Simplicity but customer support said you can pick one up for PAYG as well, so hopefully they didn't lie.

Where does this leave people on simplicity with O2 ?
I'm currently on a rolling 30day iPhone simplicity, if i went in on thursday would i just be able to upgrade or would i have to wait and start a new contract ?

The O2 early upgrade offer. I don't get it.

What happens in the following scenario: I sell my 3GS but everywhere is out of stock of the iPhone 4. The early upgrade offer expires late July. If they don't have any in stock by then then potentially I'm left with no phone and would be forced to start a new contract.

Wahay, I just called up orange to ask for a micro sim. I expected them to argue with me, however they were fine and I just have to call up tomorrow and they'll send one through.

Just wondering (may have already been covered) when do people recon the pre orders will ship!

Was it Sunday when those who pre ordered the Ipad get shipping info.

Can confirm Bristol Cabot Circus has said the thing!
Regent Street is saying the same.

I think I'll go ahead and cancel my pre-order from the store. It's a guaranteed iPhone on the 24th, but I can't take the time off work and I might as well go to the shop if they will definitely have one.

For anyone whose with Vodaphone, possibly on a HTC Magic 18 Month contract. I just called retentions and they change my price plan over from £30/Month (600 min/unlimited texts/512MB internet) to £25/Month (900mins/unlimited texts/1GB 3G/ 1GB Wifi) for 12 months from today, no early cancellation fee from my HTC Magic contract which wasn't suppose to run out till December. I had already pre-ordered the iphone from Apple direct.

Is it just me, or do I get the impression that the best contract deal is through Vodaphone?

Whats their service like in the Uk?

Am currently undecided between the £35/£40 18 month contracts.

SNAP!!! :p (well i was on a 12 month contract), you might want to check with them as some companies say you can upgrade/change early but the months are added onto what you upgrade/change to

I am with voda and have been for 8 years at least... Never had bad service with them (bar not giving me the iPhone 4 on a 12 month contract :p )

With voda you are able to change down the price plan after 9 months so it might be worth starting at £40 a month and change down, (It will prob work out the same in the long run, but you get 9 months with increased minutes)

Did you do that with an iPhone contract? Cos I phoned up today, and I'll put it in bold because it's quite important I think :

On Vodafone, on the iPhone tariff you cannot move your tariff down in the whole 18 months. On any other, yes, but not on iPhone.

that was from a Business CS agent... maybe it's business only?

Did you do that with an iPhone contract?

When I spoke to a lovely lady at voda she said all iPhone contracts are the same as normal voda contracts bar the fact you cant get a pre-existing customer discount AND you can't pay an extra £5 on the 10 month contract to make it a 12 month contract....

I shall call up tomorrow and see what they say

Not likely to trawl through 98 pages to find an answer but is there any real need for this, like is there anything it offers that's worth it;
I look on the apple website and see video calling.. two cameras.. multitasking.. video recording.. and a 5 mega pixel camera which all seem, outdated?
Genuinely interested in what it offers over the previous phones, not slating it, I have an ipod touch myself and love it

If you recall, all iPhones can be called 'outdated' one way or another, but as you know with your iPod Touch, its about how it works and usability.

You say that, but when apple do something its usually very polished and simple to use. Exactly what i need in a phone. You say all of that's outdated (which on paper, yes maybe), but you'll probably find they're superior to equivalent handsets out there and have better components. I'm just going by past experience of the iPhones i've had.

I'm no fanboy either as i've tried many other smartphones and recently purchased a desire. However as i say, they just don't seem anywhere near as polished, particularly when it comes down to the OS. You probably know yourself anyways as you have an ipod touch :)

Being a current iPhone 3G owner on O2, I'm a little stumped as to where to go with the '4'. Currently looking like it'll be Vodafone on a 2 year contract (figure the 18m is pointless as you won't upgrade in 18 months - may as well wait 6 months for the newest iPhone) as they're supposedly offering the most data. I'll be happier when I've seen confirmed tariffs from them though.

For anyone else confused about the e-mail that states the phone is reserved but at the bottom in small print says, "first come first served".

I Rang Apple in Exeter, they said that if you've reserved one it will be there no matter what and won't be sold to anyone else.

If anyone else can phone the store they've reserved with and make sure that's the default and not just a misinformed shop person and post back I think a few of us wouldn't have to worry so much (I've sold my old phone so need another asap!).

Can confirm Meadowhall said the same thing, said my phone will be waiting for me on that day no matter what time if turn up :)
