The words "Paul Scholes" and "ball winner" should not be used in a sentence unless it contains "isn't exactly a".

:p

did anybody just see the statement released by rooney thorught fa. its just been read on itv.

i dont think he is going to get away with jsut an apology

BBC just mentioned the only England striker to score in the last 8 games is Crouch and he's so far been given what, barely 20 minutes of game time in this World Cup? Lunacy

Picking based on form indeed

Half-arsed apology written by the FA press office. "For my part" lol.

this is how id put them out and wouldnt be suprised if he goes with that on wednesday. but i can see upson getting the call ahead of dawson because capello is a complete retard when it comes to making the common sense choice...

oh my:mad: thats is going to kill any confidence he has. i think he's just going to think to himself 'forget it'

to me he is not someone who takes into account what the fan have gone thorugh to get to south africa ie saving up/taking holidays etc.. its not as if all the fans get paid 100k a week

If he thinks 'forget it' and not 'ill show them' then he doesn't deserve to be in football nevermind the England squad.

Everyone seems to forget that football players have a JOB. A *hugely* overpaid job. Seriously the excuse 'they bring entertainment to millions' is looking a little poor given they've done nothing but dissapoint time after time.

Frankly every England supporter who made the effort to turn up in South Africa has every right in the world to boo Rooney and the entire team. They paid hard earned money (or someones anyway if they're on the dole) to go watch a bunch of overpaid monkeys fail and make excuses.

A good start would be playing a proper striker instead of Heskey, simply having him in the team screams of negativity and encourages everyone to just hoof it towards him.

IMO Rooney also needs to stop running back to the half way line when he doesn't get any service, how must the England midfield feel when Rooney is alongside them and they look up and see only Emile Heskey prowling the box?

I might not be Fabio Capello but I'd play Crouch/Defoe for the next game, Rooney and Heskey haven't even looked like scoring and most of our chances have been from midfielders.

I would move Terry and Dawson behind A.Cole and Johnson for when A.Cole and Johnson make runs on the wings, means at least two defenders will always be there incase of a counter attack.

If you weren't going with Rooney, i would play Crouch and Defoe up front, but get rid of Lampard and leave Barry alone as a defensive midfielder.

Exactly how I would play it... been telling anyone who would listen this would be my first choice since Ferdinand was injured.

I give up on England their a stinking pile of poop. I hope USA qualifies and goes on to win it.

I don't. It would be a real shame if a WC winner was a country who didn't even care and who openly mocked the sport. I would prefer those who came from Uruguay to make the spanish cry and lift it.

Pace, width, good connections down the middle to encourage playing the ball on the ground, skill of J Cole to link with Rooney, no donkey strikers up front encouraging useless long balls that nobody can do anything with.

I hope you're having a laugh with that! In fact you must be, no-one in their right mind would ever play Ash Cole as a centre half, in fact he and Johnson have so far been our best attacking threat and you want to shackle them to the back line of defence! Great idea man!

[edit]You also want to drop the only good centre half we have left in Terry to play three players that have never played centre half at a big international tournament. Well done that man!

Ian Wright passionately sums it up. Well worth hearing what he said. Click the media player on the page. http://www.talksport.net/

100% agree with him. Rooney would have had a point after previous boos in other games but the team deserved every single boo they got last night and I can't believe Rooney didn't see that. Every single player should have come off and said that was the just about the worst football match I'd ever seen because that's exactly what it was.

Maybe not but immense in the fact that they managed to get that far...and nothing to do with rose tinted glasses;)...get off that high horse of yours. That team would have ****ed all over the team we have now...maybe not in skill but in pure desire to win games...i didnt see at any time any desire to win the game last night from the 11 players we had on the pitch.

Thats why the italia 90 squad after two games took the same hammering for passion that this team has, but hey you remember it how you want to.

There is no way I'd play 3 at the back with johnson anywhere near the side. Bloody algeria ran right through him time after time. It would be like playing with a man short against portugal or anyone with a half decent left sided winger.
