lol those rose tainted glasses are amazing. The proof is in the pudding as I watched a replay of the England vs Ireland match last week (strange of them to show it really) and it was dire.

That game against the Germans was epic though.

On a side note doesn't get on your nerves the amount of references to 1966 we get through advertisements. Not knocking the boys from 66 as they are legends, but call in numbers on adverts ending in 1966 :)

Surely anythings better than the constant enslaught of Johnny 'state the absolutely ******* obvious', along with Dave 'I'd always make the right decision with the benefit of hindsight'.

All they're good for is letting us know who's scored if we can't work it out from the picture, or the radio.

Aye, he can be a bit nuts. I can see why they brought him in years ago though, his enthusiasm and love for England is almost unmatched (compare that to the players..). However he doesn't really sit there and analyse the game like Hanson, Lineker etc. can.
 
My missus has been watching all the football with me, which has been nice, but occasionally she comes out with questions that make me facepalm.....

Thats not a lack of football knowledge but geographic ignorance.
 
Technically Holland and the Netherlands aren't the same thing though. Holland is one part of the Netherlands. It's the English speaking world (I presume) that swaps the names incorrectly. :p

It's like swapping England and Great Britain even though one is England, and the other includes Wales, N Ireland and Scotland.

They are trying to blame the ball and they might have a point actually.

Almost every shot and free kick has gone up and over. Maybe the players just hit it too hard though with that added adrenaline.

But this worldcup they have been going on about the ball more than other world cups imo. They just go on and on about it.

I hope in future worldcups they just go back to an older ball and just change the sticker on it to bring the money in but not have all this commotion and wasteful "testing" at loughborough and whatever.

I think this Rooney bashing has got a bit out of hand.

Yes, he had two terrible games.

Yes, he hasn't seemed to ever be able to carry his Man Utd form to England.

That doesn't change the fact he's our best striker and the manager should be trying to build a team that can play him in to score goals, not playing formations/players that we all know have never worked properly.

There are a lot of people to blame for the mess that is England at the moment, both the staff and the players are all at fault.

Anyone who says Rooney is rubbish is simply wrong.

Over-hyped? I'd agree with that, the press have placed the entire hope of our nation firmly on his shoulders, and for various reasons he has flopped, and now he has to take the flack from that.

I really hope they pull it together on Wednesday, impossible is nothing.

Yeh the Rooney bashing is stupid. If he quit international football and continued to perform very well at the club level (which he probably will), the people being critical will look like mugs. Of course Rooney, isn't going to quit because of idiots.
