Nothing special, just a wash and dry, I still need to polish the entire car with Megs UC and Wax it but I just don't get the time :(

Had a chance to use the DAS polisher on my car today and after 5 hours these are the results

Well pleased although I think I'll avoid the finishing stage in the future as I couldn't notice the difference.

That's a shiny BMW. In fact this whole thread has motivated me to get a little bit more into the finer points of car cleaning when my new car arrives.

So with that in mind.. Wash, clay, polish, wax/seal. Correct?

So:

A clay bar
Applicant/fluid to use with clay bar (Meguiars Quick Clay kit)?
Polish (I already have some AG SRP)
Sealant (I already have some AG EGP)

Is this all I need?

Wheels.. What should I use to "seal" them once clean?

I'm not really interested in going too mad with the whole detailing thing just yet, and nor do I want to spend much money. Just interested in keeping it shiny :)

Thanks

o.. i didn't realise there were such things as wheel sealant... i just left my wheels feeling chalky after washing :o

i just washed my car today.. want to order some wheel sealant but it'll take a few days to arrive. can i perhaps use normal wax on the wheels for now??

Hey everyone, I'd like to be able to proper cut/polish my cars, and was wondering whether it was worth investing in a cheap rotary to aid the process (I'm primarily thinking about speed and effect).

Any recommendations, or should I just stick to doing it by hand?

Presumably I'd have to mask off things (i.e. chrome/trim/window rubbers) that I didn't want polished by it, or can I get by with a low-speed pass not effecting them and just cleaning them up afterwards?

Thanks! :)

In my experience it can be a real ball-ache cleaning polish residue off of bits of trim/nooks/crannies where it isn't supposed to go, so I'd mask it :)

Edit.

Also, my headlight has a long scratch (not deep) can I polish this out with a DA and merzerna 3.02?

Well after losing a couple of resevoirs of coolant all over my engine bay, I think it's time I cleaned it a little!

Can anyone recommend some suitable products for cleaning the main areas of my leon's engine bay? Not looking to go too overboard but would like something that's designed for the job rather than the back to black I've used before on the odd part.

Oh, preferably something I can get from Halfords as I need to pop by there in the near future.

Can anyone recommend a shampoo to remove wax? The car currently has Dodo juice purple haze applied if it makes a difference?

I would like to make sure I thoroughly strip the wax so I can polish, glaze and then apply new coat of wax.

Try Halfords Value Car Wash should strip off the wax ;)
