*** The all new iPhone 4 thread - Keep all iPhone 4 stuff in here ***

Note to 3G Users, wallpaper cant be changed, just tried (unless im doing it wrong). pretty silly if im honest

Its not a speed of phone issue, it's a memory issue.

A lot of apps that run on the 3G are constantly having to deal with low memory warnings already. By the OS throwing a wallpaper that it needs to store in memory, the situation will only get worse.

So the way I take it is no actual phone network stores are doing pre-orders whatsoever and its based on a first come first served basis? A very poor behalf on apple and the networks to be fair.

I can understand and every little bit adds up but a picture cannot be too much memory right?

The 3G only has 128mb of ram. After all the OS has loaded into memory (remember there is no swap memory, it leaves 3rd party apps with about 8-12mb of free. Maybe slightly more, but not a lot. The RAM required to store a wallpaper suddenly becomes quite a large percentage of that. Ever wondered why some apps seem slow to move back up a navigation tree on the 3G? it's usually because the OS has had to effectively unload those screens and then needs to re-load them into memory.

Thats my understanding off it though i have Thursday off so should be able to pick one up hopefully from either CPW or Vodafone

O2 did a good job on my sim swap. I received the 'Could not activate cellular data network' error within five seconds of entering the microsim code and was able to swap the sims immediately.

All that's left to do now is wait for my phone to arrive. Too bad they don't have iTunes at work or else I wouldn't have to wait until the evening to activate it.

I've got my iPhone simplicity sim in a pony Nokia, it works perfectly.

Hopefully i havent bought into a 12m simplicity contract which gives me no reception at home lmao. O2 website said it gave be perfect 2g, and maybe 3g.

For some reason my phone will never restore from a back up ... Its so frustrating and i dont understand why on earth it does it ...

Allways gives me the following error - "backup session failed"

Why on earth is this ? drives me nuts

Saying something about a duplicate file name :s

Anyone else had this, im having to complete a restore at the moment. Ive disabled all firewalls etc and then im going to give it another go .... real annoying

On a dell XPS studio

"Go to itunes/settings/devices and see if there are any old backups left. If yes, delete them"

Where is this i cannot find it ?

*edit found it :)

Without reading through all 43 pages of the thread I have a few quick questions.
I'm currently on O2 Simplicity 20 (+'Unlimited' Data) with an iPhone 2G.

1. The new iPhone O2 Simplicity tariffs, are they basically just 30day and 12month contracts where you pay £500 for the iPhone 4 (16gb)?
2. The price of the iPhone on simplicity contracts: I based that £500 on the apple store pre-order since on the O2 website they don't actually have any info on simplicity handset pricing, is it correct?
3. If I keep my current simplicity tariff will it keep the unlimited data bolt on or will it switch to 500mb limited like the new simplicity tariff?
4. Would I be able to walk into an Apple/O2 store and buy a simfree iPhone for £500 and just keep using my current simplicity tariff (after switching to the new micro sim)?
