*** The all new iPhone 4 thread - Keep all iPhone 4 stuff in here ***

Thinking about getting the iPhone 4 as not only my first iPhone, but my first phone that has cost over £100 :p

Not too sure on which network yet, but I was having a look earlier and think I might get the 16GB SIM free, then get the £15 a month,12 month plan that comes with:
300 minutes
Unlimited texts
Unlimited internet

from http://www.o2.co.uk/explore/tariffs/paymonthly/simplicity

Works out at £679 for 12 months.

Does anyone know if you can give your reservation to anyone else by them just using your apple id? Will that cause any issues at purchase or down the line?

Perhaps Apple link the reservation id to the warranty or something?

ps3ud0

I've currently got an iphone 3G on a 30 day O2 simplicity contract and have an iphone 4 reserved at my local apple store for Thursday. I want to buy the phone on contract as I can't afford £500 up front for it. Will they be able to upgrade my current simplicity contract to an 18 month one on Thursday? Or do I have to cancel the simplicity one, take out a new contract and then get my number transferred over to the new one?

Do you need to actually visit a store to pre-order for collection or have i just missed out on this, can only find online pre-orders on the apple site.

Although my local Orange store is not officially taking pre orders they are taking names and numbers and called me today to clarify my order. They seem confident i will get one Thursday morning but can not give guarantees. Interesting they seem to think they will have plenty of white ones. I wonder if Apple have saved these for the networks??

You've missed it I'm afraid, turned out there was a limited number of pre-order stock available  so pre-orders for collection now have closed.
But if you want to queue you may be able to get one on the day.

Guys just a quick question as I have sold mine now, am I right in thinking that if I just make a backup of my phone (Via iTunes), this will transferr over to the 4G my phone book and details etc etc?

Theres no senstive information on it, so I was thinking a restore would be good enough to wipe it?

This is where i am.

Sent iphone 3G 16GB to O2 Recycle (Just received £190.30)

Pre-ordered 32G iphone 4 1pm Tuesday (still showing as Delivered 24th)

Booked the 24th off from work :)

Swapped my contract to £15pm Simplicity (It says unlimited Internet and nothing about 500mb cap)

Picked up Microsim from O2 Shop and did the sim swap on o2 website (still waiting for old sim to stop working)

So i just have my sim swap to complete and the delivery man to turn up on the 24th and i'm good to go :)

Anyone know if the current simplicity plans are still unlimited internet or are they capped at 500mb because on my letter from O2 it says 300mins, Unlimited texts and Unlimited Web and nothing about the 500mb cap?

You are unlimited, but with a fair usage policy, but its not 500mb.
This is what i have which is technically the old iphone plan. im not sure what the fair usage plan is on the old tariffs. but hecks its much better than 500mb.

good deal sir.

Backing up an iPhone 3g and then restoring to a iPhone 4

Is it possible? I am selling my other half's 3g tomorrow and she wants me to back up all her info on her phone and restore it to the iPhone 4. She really wants to keep all her SMS messages. I am running Windows at home if that helps.
