The Budget

So what? Other countries don't get it dry in the arse like we do on all the other taxes. You need to compare the total tax burdens between countries, you can't just cherry pick what you like.

Ok, looking at the total tax burden, the UK is still far lower than France, Germany, Japan, Italy etc etc. Infact, it is lower than 28 other countries, including the USA!

So you claim benefits that you don't need, and somehow justify it.

Funny, the long-term 'can't be bothered to get a job' do EXACTLY the same thing.

Can you spell 'irony'?

Except that my wife and I earn six figures a year and pay more tax than 99% of this forum. So your example is ******** - we pay FAR more than we take - hardly the same as scum on benefits.

Thats like saying 'I buy LOADS of stuff from HMV, so nicking a single DVD can be justified, compared to 'tramp that never buys anything' nicking one.

Doesn't hold water I'm afraid dude .. you're either FOR people claiming benefits they don't need, or AGAINST it, or a hippocrit. You decide!

Is it just me who found HH's response to the budget to be utterly pathetic? She concentrated on questioning the integrity of Clegg and Cameron and throwing mud rather than offering up an alternative.

Come back when you can put forth a reasoned argument that is a. relevant and b. makes sense.

That is a logical fallacy.

For a start he would still be massively a net contributor in taxes, whereas there are millions who are net takers from the taxpayer.

I thought it was rather interesting that Alistair Darling seemed rather quiet and subdued when she was ranting.

Considering I didn't have my own money during those 16 years, I have to go with less than 50%.

Precisely. The vast majority of the people in this country, for one reason or another, spend less than 50% of their disposable income on VAT exempt goods.

But try explaining that to this forum! It's a minefield I tells ya!

Do you have any evidence what so ever to back these statements up? I appreciate that this is GD and not SC but I would love to see some evidence.
