*** The all new iPhone 4 thread - Keep all iPhone 4 stuff in here ***

That's why Apple released the bumpers - so you can't see or touch the metallic edge and lose signal. Good cover up (in both senses of the word)

Why are so many people doing these drop tests? It is pretty obvious if you keep dropping something on to concrete it will break at somepoint. So why not just let someone who actually wanted the phone have it :/

I just don't understand the mentality.

just why?? what a waste
never understood it either.. same with the ipad though and such.
Its all apple products, not ever seen a nokia drop test or whatever. Though its not like i ever such for it :P

Though 2 times for it to stop working is damn... I dropped my 1st gen ipod touch on the first day i got it hehe, a few scratches. Probably dropped it at school god knows how many times. Scratches and stuff but i had it for 2years and it was fine

So it's abit like,

Thanks for buying your £600 phone. Now to use it, please buy these bumpers.

edit*

I think the bumpers have already been tested and the problem is still there. not 100% sure tho carn't remember where i seen it

I was suprised at the demand for the iPhone 3G.

I headed down to town at 7am and the queue was already 40 deep. If I'd gone on launch for this I'd have gotten there at least 6am. Alas, I'm not getting the 4 for a while.

Wow at all the queues!

Looking forward to mine arriving today but could never ever go join a queue of that length or early in the morning for anything!

Does the signal go completley if you hold it there or just down a few bars?

i come forward i am an iPhone fanboy !

but i will be first to admit, ITS BROKE !!! not good at all

will not be buying / upgrading until its fixed

there is no way on earth that i will be buying a phone that loses reception because of how i hold it, iPhone or not

Is this the reason why there are queues of people standing outside all the mobile phone shops on the way to work today, they're all waiting for the iPhone 4G? It does sound like a pretty horrendous problem if it is true, the idea of having to buy a cover just to use your phone normally is not one I'd be happy with.

Got mine from local orange store, got outside at 7.30 and was first in the queue, next person didnt turn up till 8.15 (they opened at 9) They only got 4 16gb and 1 32gb unit. Stuck at work now and no itunes so cant activate.

Had a play with a demo unit and must say the screen clarity is amazing!

Yup it's deffo true, members in the apple forum that have already got theres have got it too.

There is also another fault with a yellow screen.

Agree that 4 drops isnt that much considering how strong it is meant to be...

Luckily I have only dropped my current phone once in that year that I have had it :p
