*** The Official HTC Desire (Bravo) Thread! ***

I shall try that too thanks. Damn branded phones :p

I think all my dad wants though is to get rid of the Orange crap so the official RUU exe may be all that he wants.

Go to the options menu and choose "accounts and sync" and see what is running (there will be the sync symbol beside whats syncing)

O'RLY? :p

Anyone know why in r18 modaco froyo release the browser force closes? It's fine on other websites but on google, and when looking at bookmarks it force closes all the time. Rather annoying!!

Had the same problem so took 2.2 off - will wait till these little problems are sorted.

And yet if you go to our apple forums they are ignoring this and running out to get one :D haha

You should see the nerd-rage from all the adopters of ios4 on other devices though on their forums.

Anyway, back to proper smart phones.

Who do we think's going to get a proper source release of 2.2 out first?

Cyanogen is slated for tomorrow, Paul @ Modaco is always behind everyone else but releases better roms, my money's on deFrost, later today ...

Good stuff all i want is a Froya that i actually think yeah this is worth using over 2.1 because as of yet i am to see this.

Well in theory we "should" have a fully working ROM including except for stuff that will require a new radio.

And for that we will have to wait for HTC to release it :(

what are you thinking July? or is that being to optimistic,

by the way how do they roll out the updates?

Right, this rooting business seems to go right over my head. Gave it a go and it, unsurprisingly, went wrong. Running the first step seemed to go through twice but hung right at the end of the second run through. Had to disconnect the phone and pull battery. After a few minutes of heart in mouth my phone is back up and running but has reverted back to the original firmware 1.21.405.1. Any reason it would have failed to complete even step 1? A quick search seems that no-one has problems with this!

I dunno, i think with the problems they had with the Hero they will be trying a lot harder to keep there customers happy.

If it's longer than 1-2 months i will be very shocked.

Updates are done OTA and you just accept it, but that will roll out to phones over a certain time, so probably best to download it from the site when it's released if you don't get the update msg

Can you post a SS of your cmd window during step-1 please

ok, wallpaper question.

I have an image I want to use for my Desire its 430 x 720 pixels. When I view it on the phone gallery its displayed exactly how I would want it as the wallpaper, but when I choose "set as wallpaper" a sizing box appears which means it crops the image. Anyway around this?

There's no way "round" it because it's not supposed to work like that because your source image is way out of size to begin with.

You need 960x800 minimum.

The crop box is to crop out of native res images to the correct resolution.
