But you have more than one screen.
Okay ran it again and it completed this time but now I'm stuck at this bit:
then select the option to 'Apply sdcard:update.zip'
It cannot find the file so just aborts the installation.
You need to put the zip file in the ROOT of your SD card (not in any folders)
It would have helped if any of the guides state to put the update.zip on your SD card! Presumed that the first process would copy it there as there was no mention of needing to put this file on your card. Fingers crossed I'm rooted now. Best way of knowing? Thanks for your help.

Looking around the settings for email and I can't find anything regarding push for gmail, is it already set for push automatically? and does push work with the htc email application?

Nope, it's still a nexus port. Will need to wait for a ROM thats compiled from source. I belive/hope that is what Paul is doing

soemthing really odd on mine since i flashed to generic htc rom, in android market im searching for logmein ignition and it finds nothing, on my brothers desire which is orange firmware it finds it straight away?

I have the Pays Sparta ROM installed and the app Quick System Info states that my CPU is running at 1267.2MHz. I am guessing that that is its overclocked speed?
Hmm, odd.
I'm connecting my phone to the PC and its stopped asking me what I want it to do (charge, diskdrive, etc). Although it's ticked as "ask me" and a removable drive appears in windows if I click on it, it says "please insert a removable device......."
Any ideas?

Try another USB port? (I had a similar thing connecting my Desire to my Mac the other day and changing the port on the system it was plugged into got the phone to ask)
