*** The all new iPhone 4 thread - Keep all iPhone 4 stuff in here ***

I have slipped my original hard plastic iPhone 2g case onto the iPhone 4, doesnt fit perfectly but it's good enough for now...

It completely stops the antenna issue, doesnt drop anything whilst its on. Shame it doesnt fit snuggly :(

I'm wondering if there is much point ringing orange now. They emailed me yesterday saying that I would go to the top of the list if I call them to pre order because I'm due an upgrade and am a loyal customer. However, I keep trying to ring them and there is a 20min wait time.

Might try tomorrow but it's not looking good now unless they have put some by for existing customers.

Don't know what everyone is going about, reception on my 4G is fine in my hand or sitting on the table.
My house has walls well over 3 feet thick and with my Blackberry 9520 there were dead spots as I moved about but with the iphone I haven't lost signal yet.

Got my 16gb from White City today. Arrived at 7.55, had my new phone around 11.50. Am typing on it right now :D
Am very pleased. Was a bit apprehensive as it's my first iPhone, but so far I couldn't ask for more from it.

Ive still got 'No service' after switching from o2 to Voda, and get the 'waiting for activation, this may take some time' message.

Is this normal? Ive had the phone since about 8:30am and its been connected to itunes since about 10am. is this one of those 'may take up to 24hrs' things?

Mine was like that too, then I removed the sim and put it back in and bingo!

Has anyone noticed the screen colour is a little yellow (warmer) compared to the older models?

My 3G looks very white in comparison, and to be honest, I prefer it, but perhaps I will get used to the 4.

Since the same thing seems to happening for the iPhone 3GS that people are talking about on the iPhone, it may be a bug in that software feature Apple brought with OS4.

Where it will continuously analyse signal and switch base bands continuously till the signal is at its best it can be in that area.

@Above, i found the iPhone 4 to be whiter than my 3GS. You may have the problem that some people are talking about where the adhesive on the screen hasn't fully dried out yet, causing the yellow tint. People are saying that goes once it dries off inside after use.

What a day..

Went to the O2 Market Street shop at 06:10, and waited for 3 1/2hrs till I got it in my hand. Must say all props to O2 had everything done for me in 7 minutes when I was in there, the delay was caused by muppets not knowing what contract they wanted etc.

Well here is mine awaiting for my number to transfer from my old sim to the new one. I wish i'd done this earlier!

How do you explain the software knowing where your hand is being placed on the device?

Because that is where the antenna is, put your hand over any antenna on a phone and you'll interfere with it. I'm wondering if that the tiny little interference in the phone is trigging that new functionality to continuously search for new bands dropping the signal while it is doing it.

Maybe, i don't know. In my usage of the phone it doesn't seem to be doing it, but it does drop a bar when i put my finger over it, i hold the phone with my right hand and mostly operate it with that hand too.

GRRRR!

Just spent all night calling Tesco to only be told that i cant order till 8am tomorrow!

Still, its better than the 'Sold Out' reply I expected! Hopefully they will be able to deliver for saturday and I can spend the weekend not being able to get any signal either :p

This activation thing is really taking the biscuit, my old iPhone went offline ages ago yet still nothing on the new one

I'm wondering whether or not to try the other mini sim I've got....

Got to arndale centre at 6pm and joined the reserved queue, got jumped ahead of a few ppl simply because I was getting it sim free. Walked out of the shop at 6.45pm with the phone, not bad. :)

Just testing it out now. 32GB Black here btw.

You must have just made it. I got back from Birmingham about 6ish. Called up to see if they had stock, was on hold for about 20 minutes, got to 2nd in the queue then just decided to walk in, it only takes me 10 minutes to get in. None left. Registered on the priority list though. She said they might get a delivery tomorrow.

I have a eye check up in town at 8:15 so will pay them a visit on the way back home.

This antenna problem is worrying though, only just hearing about it now. I'll might hold off buying one for the time being.

I know that's where the antenna is. Bridging the two antenna with your hand makes signal drop, how is that in any way a software issue?
