Sorry, originally posted this in the wrong thread, but:

I think there's a slight error on the page for the mobo. It says
Note: This motherboard requires two Intel Xeon X5000 (Socket 1366) series processors to operate.
According to EVGA's FAQ sheet, it can be run with one processor, in the event that someone didn't want (or in my case, couldn't afford :D) two processors right away, allowing easy upgrade to a 2 processor system later on when your bank balance had recovered. i.e., whilst it can take two processors, it only "requires" one, if you get me? :)

I only noticed because I've been drooling over this board online for a while now. :D And I only mention it because if customers realise they can buy it with one processor at first... you'll get more sales. . . . and hopefully that'll push prices down for the rest of us. :D

Last time I checked it was only a couple of the high end ones... the full list of cases that can fit the board is on EVGA's website. ;)

hang on, the hex cores are priced exactly the same as the quad cores with the same frequency.

bit of a no brainer...

still, that board deserves better than being dumped into a case. I reckon it should be framed and hung on the wall. Fully operational. Build a cavity for the PSU(s) behind it or something...

I have to admit, i thought the board would be more, simply because of the price of the 4 Way board, all the extra features, extra socket and chipset for £100 more. Though the CPU prices cancel that out, so its still OTT

My GF wants a new pc for a bit of web browsing and playing bingo would this mobo and a couple of six core cpu's, 12Gb of ram and 4 x 480GTX's be o.k. ;)

want all of the above :D

Rich, you and me both buddy. I'm so tempted to work on a spec now for the new rig and give my younger brother the nocturnal you built.
I'll need to have a good think about this. Hopefully will give you and Nathan a ring maybe in a week or two. (Or Three hehe).

speak soon,
Sam
