*** The all new iPhone 4 thread - Keep all iPhone 4 stuff in here ***

but the software is far superior to anything on the market and double that up with the app store.

LOL no it isnt...sure its better than the last OS but still its not any better than say Android, microsoft or blackberry OS's....its only superior in your opinion because of how good it looks and how easy it is to use compared to other mobile OS's....the fact that its still closed off compared to the openness of Android in my opinion is still a failure on Apples part but thats their decision to do it that way.

Still plan on getting one but probably hold off a few weeks before taking the plunge.

The Quote atop the Apple features page is as follows:

"While everyone else was busy trying to keep up with iPhone, we were busy creating amazing new features that make iPhone more powerful, easier to use, and more indispensable than ever. The result is iPhone 4. The biggest thing to happen to iPhone since iPhone."

I am aware I have pulled in features from all over the place, but its more to show the principle of the thing.

The HTC desire, to me seems to be the best available at the moment. Especially as it can make calls when held in the left hand ;)

I've bolded what means the most to me in a phone...

Honestly - I'm not looking for a clunky, challenging phone - I'm looking for an easy to use, speedy phone.

I previously had a Samsung Omnia, I thought it was pretty good - but it was slow - One go on the iPhone an I was converted - Better screen, faster, easier to use, plus the apps are great and ever extending.

I doubt Apple will be giving anyone bumpers or "fixing" this problem.

That article is a bit reduntant purely because the author seems to be under the impression that it's the plastic slots that are part of the antenna system.

Watch the Apple keynote. They're not, it's the metal bands themselves. The plastic slots are just there to isolate the antennas and bottom plating from each other (The author doesn't seem to know there's also one at the top seperating the GSM antenna from the GPS antenna).

I get where you're coming from, but I don't think even Apple would claim the technology is new. That reads to me like new features to the iPhone rather than technology breakthroughs

Thats fair enough if thats whats important to you i guess...for me my main concern is making sure i have reception at all times...no matter what hand i hold it in:p...for me my BB9700 serves that purpose perfectly....the only reason why im contemplating on getting the iphone4 is for really the apps...sadly the BB is lacking in the apps dept and even with the Desire which i sold earlier this week, it lacked as well....whereas the iphone4 will fill that gap...i have a spare £10pm tariff with tmobile whcih gives me 100min, unlimited texts and 1gb internet so plan to use that with the iphone4 should i decide to get one.

I wont be using the iphone4 as a phone ie calls or texts...that will be left to my BB...the iphone will me more of a multimedia device for me...so im not really that bothered by the reception issue although i still think it should be rectified somehow.

Thats the trick to the marketing... People who know nothing about phones read is as such..

Apple are the masters of it. End of. No one will beat them for market share, they have mass appeal, and as such can corner the market. Its like trying to wean the whole world off MS OS.

Surely the most important thing should be that it works as a phone, as threads like this and others prove it doesn't work as a phone.

I am honestly shocked that people are happy to have put a case on the phone for it to work. Truly shocking attitude.

You're giving the reception issue a beating as many are - and I'm as angry at Apple as anyone - but I've already said that it's the best phone out there (excluding the antenna bug).

If you only want the apps - maybe an iPod Touch is for you?

I can see where you and many other people who buy iPhones are coming from.

However, I assure you there is absolutely nothing clunky about the HTC Desire and its Sense UI for example, you can actually modify it so it emulates the iPhone entirely with regard to how it looks.

Things like this are only as complex as you make them in most cases. (Although I admit, the occasional thing may take an extra few minutes to set up, hardly a deal breaker though)

And yes, the app store is lacking, but it is by no means bad.

Does anyone know when Apple are going to debit my account? It has to be the first company i've bought something from that has checked my account for funds upon preordering and shipped the item without debiting.

Anyone?

Is this the Iphone4 thread, which says "keep all Iphone4 stuff in here"

Yes, there is plenty of point to it. Its raising a number of what I believe are important questions about the marketing and features of the device.

I currently have a Toshiba TG01 Running Windows Mobile 6.5

Baahaha, the TG01 is the biggest pile of turd ever!

Touchscreen is probably most unresponsive ive used and its mega slow, oh and wait, it has a lower MP count (3.15) also? surprise...

And lets not even start with the god awful UI.

So how you can possibly say the iPhone 4 is not that good in terms of its competitors is bs.

Did you use an original handset? The toshiba UI was a joke, I agree. It slowed the phone to a crawl, but the standard Winmo 6.5 is brilliant. So you disable the toshiba one, and its sorted :D I love mine, i did have an issue with some faulty radio software which meant some noisy calls, but once that was sorted, the phone is perfect.

I have already answered the question about competitors.

Oh, and using MP count to say how good a phone is really is a joke!

This is my first iphone and iv just been using my ipod touch as my app device.

Tried re-syncing but it didnt take any of the data across, everything is just a clean slate. (i have 3* in angry birds on all levels!)

Hum diddly hum.
Any more advice, thoughts, help.
Thanks :)

Ah I see your dilemma now.
Had a little look round t'interweb and may have thought of a solution.

Sync your iPod with all app the data you want on your phone to iTunes.
Then, sync your phone but 'only' sync the apps.

I have one, ipod touch which is now been replaced by the Sony X series mp3 player...the sony is a far better mp3 player.

But even with the ipod touch...unless i was at home with wifi i couldnt download apps...at least with the iphone4 if im out and about i can use it to download apps that i need or use.

With the ipod touch i couldnt do that unless i was near a wifi spot.

Yes for you its the best phone out there...whereas for me it isnt...not by a long shot...my Blackberry is probably the best phone out there for me even the Desire which i loved still couldnt replace my Blackberry simple as that and neither will the iphone4...like i said the iphone4 for me will be my multi media device ie keep me entertained on my way to work and back home...thats about all i will be using it for...i wont even be giving that number out to anyone as i have my other number people can get me on....so im not too bothered about the reception issue to be fair seeing as i wont be using it as a phone all that much.

Best iPhone fanboy comment yet :)

Get your head out of Mr Jobs' backside and have some perspective for once in your life. Jesus christ.

Excuse me? Be quiet you troll, you have done nothing in here but belittle the iPhone and Apple. You sound like a broken record.

Try re-reading my post before calling me a fan boy, you silly child.

I am unhappy as the rest with the reception issues, but I was stating that who's to say we might see a fix soon or a recall?

I did use the standard phone, but wasn't aware you could disable the vendors mods, so scrap that argument :)

Only reason I bought the camera MP was because you brang up the MP count issue saying it wasn't good, wheres yours is far worse :) But saying that, I think an 8MP would have been a better choice as it would have been able to compete way more on the level of the new Sony Ericssons coming out with 8-12MP cameras with its UI, ease, speed, looks

Anyone still waiting for their o2 sim to be activated?

Mine went through overnight.

At home the effect of the antenna problem was minimal. Completely shielding the iPhone lost about two bars. (From a full 3G signal).
At work the effect of the antenna problem is massive. Touching the LHS and the RHS at the same time (not even the bottom) brings it right down to nothing, from a nearly full EDGE signal.
