*** The all new iPhone 4 thread - Keep all iPhone 4 stuff in here ***

Can we not just come to the conclusion that this is a phone, and imo a remarcably good one at that.

There will be better/worse phones out there, but at the end of the day, that is all down to each individuals opinion, dependant on their own needs.

Done.

We could do, but people who don't like the iPhone like to come into threads dedicated to the iPhone, with people who like the iPhone and express how much they don't like it.

Apple jealousy is a dangerous thing.

Just as it was once cool to bash MS, it is now cool to bash the one device that make every other phone manufacturer wet themselves and imitate.

A lot of people are too thick to see that Apple have implemented task switching in such a way that it conserves battery life, whilst full multitasking OS's, which aren't a good idea on a mobile device with a limited battery life will struggle in the long run as both the OS and apps mature. E.G Winmo.

Apple bashing is rife, but you cant simply dismiss this problem, to it might look good for Apple if they can fix it with a VERY quick update, in terms of sorting a problem fast.

I'm not dismissing the problem on my behalf. I'm already planning to return my unit if nothing is resolved by the 7th July. I know a total of 7 people who own the device now and all of them have the same issue too. Quite angry that the product was obviously rushed out, and such a simple, obvious issue overlooked. Apple aren't doing their rep any good right now.

My main issue is not holding it and making calls, I can deal with holding the phone ever so slightly higher. My real issue is that I am one of those guys who walks to work/town etc with the phone in my left palm. This means that incoming calls won't hardly get through now with this issue. So I'm stuffed.

I hate cases so that bumper can simply gtfo too. Other than this issue, the phone is just superb to use tbh.

It is weird as here ive had two and we cannot replicate the problem, and they where both bought from teh same shop, thats why im wondering about manufacturing and how many different lines they have..

Im sorry about your phone, but for the life of me, theirs not a chance in blue hell that I can see Apple releasing this knowing full well that this problem existed, just try and imagine that from a company of Apples size and worth view point.

Ok guys, apologies if anyone's covered this already (did do a quick search, couldn't see anything) but has anyone come across a decent video convertor that takes into account the higher resolution screen of the iPhone 4? :)

Thanks in advance!

Oh and apologies for interrupting all this "Apple sux/Apple rox" twaddle :).

It's not weird, this problem related to the strength of the signal. Try it in a different area and you'll see.

I don't care about the signal indicator showing one bar, its doesn't bother me as long as I can still use the phone. But there have be occasions where it would drop out of 3G and an "o" is displayed and I can't access the internet.

We tried in known locations/ work. home, and at work we could try a 3GS on iOS4 at teh same time, we couldnt replicate the problem on either, these where bought out of the same O2 store in blefast, mine is sitting in a UPS depot, so im wondering how it will act coming from another batch.

Meh, as much as I would like a more unique colour to everyone else out there. White one is a bit more girly.

Might have to buy a bumper or case for it just so u know which one is urs. iPhone fell on the floor as I was leaving the pub, knew it wasnt mine, but I had to check my jean pockets just in case.

send it back then and get a desire? i have no issues atall with the phone , signal is fine , if i am in a low coverage area then yes the bar drops one , but not enough to cut me off

From what I've experienced so far, I'm in the camp that it's just mis-reporting the signal strength.

I was a little annoyed yesterday with it dropping bars whenever I picked it up, though it's never got to the point where it would lose connection altogether.

But today at work I had a full signal no matter what I tried.

My 3G would flit between 2 and 4 bars at home, so it looks to me like the 4's signal reporting is just being optimistic.

So, more testing is in order :)

IMO the phone is superb , unique and solid stying that feels like it will last years , screen is frankley to die for ! , only thing i see could be better is why they didnt put a dedicated camera shutter button on the side off the phone , it would make taking pics much more natural, i am looking at it just now and pppwwwwaarrrrr , everyone that has seen it today has gone WOW

Best way to describe this phone :p

Too bad my 3G still ain't working, does it take some time to activate or anything?

mine activeated in a few seconds , i cut my tmobile sim down to a micro sim , slapped it in , connected to itunes then in 1 min all was done and dusted ! but i dont have 3g here , backward red neck sorta place , i am 1 mile from a 3g signal grrrrr

But I don't want a desire fullstop :)

dont blame you , the phone is way ahead of the desire , imho build quality alone the press was always going to jump on ANYTHING with the phone , all modren phones drop signal strength when you hold them , but when the desire was launched no one gave it a second look in the press , even though it was THE best phone out a few months , well 3 days ago ;)

I've got a new Tesco Micro sim but doesn't seem to connect to 3G, guess I'll have to contact them.

Not really..it isnt that far ahead of the Desire tbqh....i had the Desire myself for about a month before selling it and from what i have researched the iphone4 and Desire have the same amount of ram..512mb...cpu speed no one really knows but the Desire runs at 1ghz.

In terms of looks the Desire is no slouch....its a pretty nice handset and the biggest win for the Desire is the OS it runs on...its open whereas apple is closed tighter than a gnats backside.

But for sheer ease of use the iphone4 fits the bill perfectly...a mobile device for the mass population.
