*** The Official HTC Desire (Bravo) Thread! ***

Ok i am a bit concerned now. Rooting my phone and I have run the Step 1 Batch file but then my phone goes black and just comes on with a black screen with the HTC logo on it and doesnt go any further :(

I thought the bootloader was supposed to load again. The green bar starts going and then the command window will close, the phone will disconnect itself from the pc and reconnect itself ( usb connection sounds) and then a black screen with the HTC logo will show up :(

If i then unplug my usb cable, i will just get the bootloader showing RUU highlighted and nothing else.

Has it been like that for long? It can sit on that screen for a while sometimes.

For a while. If i unplug the usb cable then i just get the white bootloader screen with "RUU" highlighted.

Hm, try running step2 or step1 again I suppose, dont worry too much about it. (Its hard to tell without lots of information and what you have done etc)

If it still isn't working in a while you'll have to explore why :(

So when the Step one BAT file finishes doing its thing is the cmd prompt window supposed to close and is it supposed to show the HTC logo for a bit? Should i just wait?

I cant actually remember, it may do for a few minutes (give it 5 minutes or so).

It should be at the green/black recovery screen or the bootloader screen, it should tell you in the guide.

Just start it again and try it again if needby.

Couple of questions for y'all.

1. What's the best ROM with a working high quality camcorder?

2. Is there such a thing as short term gadget insurance? Want to take it with me to a festival for some video recording so a week's insurance would put my mind at ease.

3. Vodafone Passport. What is it? Does it allow me to make normal calls and texts in the Republic of Ireland at no extra cost? What about data?

:DHOOOORRAY i'm rooted succesfully. Quite nice to be rid of oranges rubbish. So what extra fun can i have with my phone now then :D

1: All 2.1 ROMs share the same camera quality, it's 800x480 and pretty good quality:

^ That's indoors under very low lighting conditions.

2: Banks often offer insurance for phones and stuff, contact a few!

My phone book is completely out of order as the most recent callers are at the top. Is there a way of forcing in into alphabetical mode?

Its not really out of order. The phone puts the recent contacts at the top but if you scroll past them then it gets to the normal book with everything in order...

That's not the actual phonebook, it's the "quick" recent call list which then bites into the phonebook.

The "Phonebook" is when you click on People or click Phone then the phone icon (bottom right) then the left most tab (labelled as All).
