*** The all new iPhone 4 thread - Keep all iPhone 4 stuff in here ***

Getting a bit worried about this whole data fair use policy now. Just done the standard stuff over 3G since Thursday. Nothing heavy just fb, some browsing and maps. Noticed I have received almost 100mb of mobile data according to the usage screen. Orange have a fair use policy of 750mb! Is this something to worry about?

Also, how do you turn off orange safeguard? It blocks this forum when I try to browse it over 3G grr. Love the phone. I just wish networks dropped fair usage crap. Feel paranoid now.

Maps with satellite images is the real killer, continually panning around will get you through 10mb in a minute. As long as you watch that you're unlikely to get near your limit.

Are you using 3G all the time? If you're on WiFi at home you shouldn't be using that much. I've been streaming a bit of tennis and football and used about 70% of that.

It's probably the map usage then. I use wifi when at home. I am very unimpressed with this whole 750mb fair usage business. I was hoping to use spotify at work, without the need to create offline playlists and just stream through 3G. I guess I am thinking too far into the future, when 3G is totally unlimited. Imo it's almost a novelty still when people have to worry about such a measly total.

I'm new to the world of iPhones and 3G so this has come as a bit of a reality check. Love the phone though.

Just tried to pop into guildford to get an iphone 4 as an upgrade ... what a mistake there was a que of 50 people waiting for the store to open !!! Jesus its only a bloody phone lol

On a more serious note i called up o2 who have the 16gb handset in stock and i was about to buy one on a new 18 month contract when i relised the following ....

Insurance has gone up from £7.50 to £15 :o and they want £75 for the first claim £100 for the second and so on ... now i dont think this is worth it and that makes my phone bill £60 a month which im just not happy with. £15 on insurance on a bloody phone a month is just crazy so i was wondering what everyone else does ??? I dont think i would want an iphone without insurance as i claimed on my 3G in my 18 month contract 3 times.

What has everyone else done ? im on the £45pm contract at the moment but will prob go down to the £40pm contract as i dont use enough minutes and cant see myself using more than 500mb a month data.

Please help :( I want to order one but am miffed about this insurance buisness

You can get house cover for up to £3500 that covers personal belongings, up to £1,000 in cash, up to £1,000 of stuff outside of the house etc. for £12 a month.

I know  Its bloody mental .... thats what some people pay for there phone contract alone. Dont get me wrong i can afford it but the thought of £60 a month or £1080 over 18 months makes me cringe.

How are people going about this, is everyone just risking no insurance ?

I am, because I know I'm careful with my things - I've never broken a phone in 12 years of owning one, so paying even £7.50 a month to insure against that would be absurd. The nature of insurance (especially when it's fixed price like phone insurance rather than adjusted to individual risk) is that careful people subsidise less careful people.

Frankly if you claimed on your previous iPhone 3 times in 18 months then you definitely fall into the category of a less-careful person, in which case no doubt insurance would be a good deal.

No i belive not jimmy well it will do but only till end of september.

Pink Pig i think it depends on a great number of things but your right i must fall into that catagory. Ive decided to risk it for now but i have 28 days to make up my mind. #

Made me laugh, i called up and this horrible sounding women answered and told me they were out of stock. I said hang on i only phoned 20 minutes ago and the women told me they should have stock for the rest of the day. She then decided to start raising her voice telling me she knew what she was doing etc. I then called again and spoke to a far nicer women tho said yep we have stock i have no idea what that women was on about.

Ordered the 16gb on an 18 month £40pm contract with no insurance. Should be with me tomorrow or latest tuesday :D

Does anyone know any oter insurance alternatives like my bank for example ? Also can someone suggest a decent case to me as if im not having insurance i think it might be a good idea. whats the crack with these bumpers are they blocking the reception ?

Popped into O2 yesterday at 4. No huge queues of geeks, nothing. Took about 20 minutes and walked out with a shiny new iP4. The screen is amazing.

Don't use O2 insurance, they have changed there terms & conditions now, and no longer give you a "New" phone when you claim

Out of intrest why are people talking about free bumpers ? do you get one with the iphone or is this a deal if you buy with apple direct ?
