*** The Official HTC Desire (Bravo) Thread! ***

Have you actually used an Nandroid backup? It backs up everything in the phones NAND.

I can tell you, it's an EXACT restore.

It does actually create .img files by the way, I was getting confused between Titanium backup where you can select the level of compression.

I think your getting confused by what im saying, either that or im not putting it across properly.
If it restores your files and whatnot between ROMs, which are essentially new OS installs, then it CANT technically be a 'image' of the phone. As a true image of the phone/its storage areas would also wipe that new ROM with whatevers in the image.

Ahh yes, I see now.

Yes - if you restore the nandroid backup, it restores the ROM that was backed up too.

In that respect, Titanium Backup is a different type of application all together - Maybe in Titanium Backup, it's wise to not restore any of the application/settings that are highlighted in red when going from Sense UI ROM to a non Sense one, as most of the HTC Sense are highlighted in red.

Edit: Uploading for you Kreeeee, should be about 40 minutes.

So...if i root my Desire then i can image the internal storage of the phone to the memory card basically?
Because that would be VERY handy tbh. Im a big fan of system backups that way. :p

Yup, so it's basically a system restore point in case anything ever goes wrong! :)

so.............my pays sparta issues:

the swipe to unlock thing is pointless. you can just press the home button and the phone unlocks.....pointless in your pocket therefore.

my battery life still sucks evenj with richardtrips uvoc kernel. i'm at 80% unplugging at 9:45 and i've not used the phone today. in addition, i still have the sync symbol permanently. its the facebook app. when it starts to sync it never stops. perhaps this attributes my battery drain

Hi guys, just to let you know, I'm working on 1.6 today, I have been following the thread and I have taken note of all the features you seem to want and your concerns about rapidly changing features,

I'm working on a total rehaul with new patches to extend battery life by atleast 50%

If anybody wants anything adding please let me know here, no duplicates though please, if somebody has posted something already then I will have read it obviously and I will try and sort the request out.

Excellent I will be flashing 1.6 OpenDesire soon then :D

Yes, that's the manual way, but only if you have fake flash I believe.

Before fake flash, the custom recovery had to be pushed via adb.

I did this before I had FF (ROM Manager) installed AFAIK... Unless I am confusing FF for something else.

Im using Sparta, and pressing the home button does nothing for me when im on the lock screen.

Ive just put Shadowfrost 1.4 on mine, think its the nicest one ive tried so far :)

What ever you do, just make sure you use the r6 root method as this greatly reduces the risk of bricking the USB on your phone. USB Bricking is fixable, but no point in tempting fate.

http://android.modaco.com/content/h...e-now-with-hboot-0-80-and-os-to-1-21-support/

I would recommend downloading a LiveCD of either "Mint" or "Ubuntu" and putting all the files you need to root (the ones from the modaco download) in a folder on your C:/ drive via Windows before hand.

Least then you can access the files on the C:/ where as you probably wouldn't if they were within a user folder that you might have passworded in Windows.

Then open up terminal, login as Root user and execute the step1 command as described in the tutorial.

I'm not sure if the TinyCore download has been updated with r6 root scripts, so unless you can confirm that it has - I personally would use a LiveCD as I mentioned above.

right im going to burn a live cd of ubunto and boot into that and use the guide you linked to.

do i then just follow the steps in the link?.. and that will give me a rooted phone i can load roms too?

im overly wary because of the iphone expierience i mentioned earlier!!

ps. im obviously quite new to this, so is it worth me doingor am i walking into a mine field?.. also slightly worried if i cant backup before rooting i may loose everything.. shame we dont have a thread specifically for rooting

You'll be fine as long as you follow the guide.

Use Titanium Backup, it's free if you're worried about losing everything.

after a few hours of use, shadowfrost is by far the best rom ive used

Ive used all OD roms, 1.2 Pays, 1.7 (i know 1.8 is out) defrost, it just seems the best ive tried so far and even after installing quite a few apps i have 120mb left, it also looks the nicest imo so this is the one ill be following for a while i think, between them all ive noticed absolutely no noticible speed difference other than usb transfer rates
