Hi guys, does anyone know if their is any way to still get your hands on a rockrider 8.1? The website isn't very useful, or it's just me being a n00b

Aye that is quite steep. That's got to be retail though surely?

Only other thing I can think of is some sort of car dealer/motorfactor.

I'll check if it's trade or retail tomorrow. I was assuming it's trade as we have a trade account with them. Good call on the motorfactor; i'll look into that tomorrow.

Remember that they'll have a qty discount aswell which will save you something.

I hate some of the hassles the company bring but they stock so much stuff people want :(

Heckler/Superlight price drop:

http://www.singletrackworld.com/2010/07/new-lower-prices-on-santa-cruz/

This made me smile:

"The Heckler has always built into a simple, and surprisingly adaptable machine. We’ve had one under 30lbs for trail riding use, and the same bike built into a 35lb all mountain/jobbing downhill bike"

Pah, had mine under 30lbs in AM/DH mode. They know nothing! :D

It seems to have disappeared off there website! Your gonna have to give them a ring.

More to the point though, what the hell is this!! Looks like part of the Large Hadron Collider.

Could i just change the crank arms to slx ones?

Also you say change to non qr skewers, well what is "light" for these - 69g the pair?

Cheers

Andy

You could just change out the crank arms but you would be as well changing out the whole crankset. There are lighter options, I just put a budget option in there as an example. ;)

Halo bolt on skewers are about 70g a pair and cheap. Control tech bolt on skewers are about 50g a pair but also cost 5 times as much as the Halo's.
I would avoid any light weight QR skewers as they are flexy. I used Ti USE spin stix a few years ago. Bent the axle and snapped the body holding it in place.

It's called a rubbish suspension design.

Gave them a call and they have three of the large frames in stock (Stockport - closest store), problem is they said they can only do delivery for stuff that's available on the website; they are going to call back to see if their is way around this as I live nowhere near a Decathalon store :(

anybody running a Clarks S2 Hydraulic Disc Brake ? need a new brake as my mechanical one has a snapped caliper, was looking at the clark hydraulic as it's only £39.99.
also, my current disk is 160mm but they're out of stock, would it be hard to fit a 185/203mm disk instead? edit: this is for the rear brake.

Got some nice new Boxxer Race 2010, managed to get em from Merlin Cycles for 439 quid on sale ^_^, cant get my front brake on now though so I have switched the lever round old school style and playing about with only the rear brake on till I can afford a bracket.

Need to buy some smart black dust caps but people round my area nick em in like 2 seconds, was thinking about pimping it out with some THE mudgaurds but dunno yet.

i bought one of that years stinky when they came out. loved it but had to sell when i lost my job

what mount do you need for the brake ? arent boxxers post mount ? and hayes post mount ?

Had a dumb crash yesterday morning right before lunch, and screwed up my right hand. Couldn't ride in the afternoon, with the size of my thumb I still can't grip the bars today. 1 1/2 days of Whistler riding missed, head home tomorrow :(
