That is some epic bike right there :) I love it!

crickey hot one today, had a good long (for me) ride of 52miles, heat got to me after 50 and started feeling a bit sick so cut short my planned 60. forgotten what riding in the heat was like, just like riding in very cold with the body struggling to regulate temperature.

tdf today was 141miles at 34c? that's just insane! :)

can anyone give me a run down of what all the numbers and letters mean in the marzocchi 66 range ?

which ones are good ? which bad ? and which where cheap and which where less cheap ?

looking for a second hand pair of long travel single crowns but the names are confusing me

looks nice with the boxxers

i bought one of that years stinky when they came out. loved it but had to sell when i lost my job

what mount do you need for the brake ? arent boxxers post mount ? and hayes post mount ?

I am not sure what it is I tried the mount I had on with the Marzocchi's but it aint long enough to get the Hayes disk to mount on it, I dunno its hard to explain its just not quite long enough so I am gonna take it to the local shop to make sure I get the right one.

And the dust caps are important to finish this baby off XD, but the gits round my area take everything they can get so I might get some black bullet caps and put some anti theft grease on em, get some payback when they try to get their dirty hands on em ^_^

Had a dumb crash yesterday morning right before lunch, and screwed up my right hand. Couldn't ride in the afternoon, with the size of my thumb I still can't grip the bars today. 1 1/2 days of Whistler riding missed, head home tomorrow :(

Unlucky Ted. What happened?

where do you leave your bike where people have access to he dustcaps ?

Hi guys looking for some advice, I've picked up a Carrera Fury 2008 with a 20" frame. Went out for a quick ride today and it feels like I'm sitting too far forward. I'm not sure if this is because it's a new mountain bike and I'm used to an old 18" frame or if it's the actual geometry of the bike. Does anyone have any advice? Bit worried about trying anything downhill as it seems I'll be sat right ontop of the handlebars.

This is where it feels abit short, does anyone have any guides/measurements of other 20" frames that I could compare it to?

Cheers

About 6'2"-2", Its strange, where I naturally sit on the seat it feels like I'm too far forward but if I sit towards the back of the seat it feels fine. Unfortunatly the seat wont move any further back.

Well if I leave it outside a shop where I live its pretty much gaurenteed that the caps will be gone cos the chavs sit outside of the shops and lounge around being asses all day. I went for a ride the other day and people were making noises when I rode past trying to be funny, the town is full of immature idiots, most horrible town in England I tell ya.

My Carerra Kraken felt mega short as well. My newer bike is a 17 and feels vastly longer, the 17" Kraken had a layback seatpost like yours too but felt really squished up and short... maybe a characteristic of the bikes?

Hmm possibly, what bike did you replace it with?

2008 Hardrock Pro Disc:

Same frame size, 17", but feels much more spacious. From what I gather it's got a longish toptube for its size and a short stem, but either way it feels just way way better. Higher at the front and much more long and spacious.

The Kraken just felt too small for me, maybe I should have had a bigger one I'm 99% sure it was a 17" as well. The Fury is meant to be nice though I hear.

Hmm, does anyone know how long you have before you can't take things back to Halfords?

The Fury is a really nice bike but I might go to a different store tomorrow and try a different bike and see if it's just me being wierd or the bike.

You'll struggle to get them to return a bike just because it doesnt fit, i know i certainly wouldnt in my store.

28 days is the usual length of time for returning things, but it doesnt apply to bikes, which get used, scratched and dirty. However, if its in an as new and sellable condition then you may be able to wangle it.....aslong as you promise to buy atleast 3 accessories and a bike care plan with your new bike. :)
