Well if the don says so :p.
The two on the right make it very hard to indentify the person in question and so hence if for example a bank robbery happened and the people where using burkas (Which has happened in france..) then they would almost certainly be impossible to indentify.
The two on the right have their face covered which could be a security risk.
This as well..
the ban is not about security, it's about women's place in society - let's not confuse the issue
And this :p

So are certain hoodies, motorcycle helmets and the like, but people want to specifically ban the veil. Doesn''t make any sense from a security reason. Either you have, the state impose on our lifes and have all face hiding banned or not.

and some choose to wear it. It is no reason for a ban.
Educate and combat the cause.

Yes but moterbikers almost always take off their helmets..

The two on the right should definatly be banned.

I agree with this. Two reasons.

Firstly, it is a security risk.

Secondly, it's oppressive to women and despite my jokey side being quite sexist, I don't like what they symbolise.

So you are going to ban everything that can be used as a symbol, even though there is legitimate use and people choose of there own accord to wear it.

Education and reducing crime in other areas is the key. Abuse, honour killing etc.

Nicolas Sarkozy said:
said that burqas are "not welcome" in France, commenting that "In our country, we cannot accept that women be prisoners behind a screen, cut off from all social life, deprived of all identity,"[

fully agree with that.

certain islamic leaders even agreed with it and then head there lifes threatened

How does the veil effect impact on that?

some muslims feel that women can not go out in public, that they be veiled etc... it doesn't impose such restrictions to men. it is completely sexist. maybe you should talk to a woman if you do not understand how this can be degrading for a woman.

"Ban" is far too strong IMHO. Nearly as oppressing as Islam itself!

The two on the right should defiantly be banned.

I personally would allow either for 'walking down the street', but you must present your face when challenged (i.e. go from being the right photos to the left photos) e.g. by the Police or whoever.
Also private premises should be free to enforce whatever they wish. Heck, "I don't like your cheap jeans get out of my shop" would be fine by me - it's their shop not mine!
Public buildings (Town Hall, Airport, Dole Office, Train Station etc) I would make you show your face (so banning the right photos, crash helmets, balaclavas) but the left hand hair coverings are fine. If you don't want to show your face in the Airport that's fine, just leave - no-one is forcing you to be in the Airport.

At the end of the day, if you don't like the rules in this country that's fine too - no one is forcing you to live here (whether you're a black man, white man, purple man, martian man)!
