Remember folks, we're all individuals.

BurkhasDM03007_800x438.jpg

that's a great photo. it's what i don't want to see in this country. because, looking at that photo, there are no individuals. if i have children, i don't want to see this on the playground when i pick them up, i don't want to see it on the sidelines of a football pitch. i want to see individuals that i want to integrate with or simply get the time of day from

I don't really like the veils, but I don't have a problem with people wearing what they want. Its a free country and we should all be allowed to wear what we like (within reason).

The other day I saw a driving instructor in Blackburn wearing a ninja face veil and also the learner wearing one as well. I hope they are allowed to remove the veil to prove to the examiner that they are who they are. Otherwise it could be anyone taking the test.

A part from that though, I cant see a problem really.

does a person wear a balaclava 24/7? no would they wear a balaclava when picking their child up from school? in court? in a pub? in court etc etc

The point is, that there is no law against doing so if you choose to. If I decided to go to the pub wearing a balaclava tonight, I wouldn't be arrested. A freedom for one must be a freedom for all, we cannot pass a law to ban the burqa without passing a law to ban all items of clothing that cover the face - to do so would be persecution and descrimination.

it seems to me we get taken advantage of because of our good nature.

In what specific way are we being taken for a ride?

I would laugh if i read that correctly, Muslim men throwing the liberty card with regard to brainwashing women into covering their evil skin up so that they don't get a hard on.

You want that kind of "liberty" go back to Iran and dress like a ninja there.

You're not but others seem to be implying it. I wonder how many people here who are calling for the ban have actually interacted with a veiled woman or Muslims at all.

they probably don't feel like they can or may have tried and been met by hostility. it's not just the veil which makes me not want to integrate, there's many an IC1 i would not want to integrate with on face value due to not feeling comfortable with it

What exactly is it we don't understand? That we don't understand some useless, outdated primitive traditions created from man made superstition/religion? This is 2010, not 610 BC.

I am against every clothing that covers your face unless there is a very good to i.e. very cold, sand storm, extremely heavy snow etc.

Anyways, my point is that if you truly understand it, you will like it too.

An example would be (bear in mind, this is only an example), I hate Apple products, because I don't see any benefit in it whatsoever, however, Apple lovers would start a nonsense arguement that it is better etc. because of their appreciation and understanding of the product, however, I myself will not be able to see the benefits as them, Its very similar to being biased really, It goes a lot deeper than what you'd think...

All women who wear it are brainwashed? Got any evidence to back that up?

Do you even know what you're talking about? Traditionally the burqa, hijab, veil etc. are about modesty and can be worn by both male and female muslims. The original text regarding the section about women refers to them as the "Wives of Mohammed", which is a very respected title in Islam.

Just because there are some extremists who take it to mean subordination doesn't mean all women who wear the clothing are doing so because they are forced. Many do so because they choose too.

there may not be a law against covering ones face 24/7 but why would you want to do it? imagine if your missus or your best friend decided to do it? bye bye communication and bond.

we are being taken for a ride on this issue, i don't want to go into other areas as they are not in the topic, though i did provide a link a few pages back if you would like an example

So because you're too unimaginative to think of a reason why someone should want to wear an item of clothing, we need to pass a law banning it?

Seriously?

If you're not comfortable with certain things, fair enough. As I said, I'm not always comfortable when I see a large group of people wearing hoodies in one place but I'm not calling for the ban of hoodies.

too unimaginative? i don't understand this ..

and for the record, OriginalJonty, i would quite happily see hoodies banned in public too

I have a solution, just ban muslims.

Oh but wait, that might be offensive, so the english living in.....england have to go by stupid muslim law.

Maybe you mean that there is an outward display of Islamic culture in terms of the wearing of a veil - that's not an example of England having to go by Muslim law. Banning people based on their religion or what they wear is not a good road to go down and as has been pointed out multiple times undermines the tolerance that the UK should rightly be proud of.

Exsiting churches, try getting permission to build a new one, even in so called "secular" turkey.

This may be true but I'm hoping it's not used to support an argument against the potential building of mosques in the UK? If it was then it wouldn't be a good argument, we don't want to emulate some of the less impressive aspects of other societies when we can demonstrate better ourselves but I'm pretty sure that you wouldn't be using it in such a way.

Whether the Muslim women are forced are not is irrelevant as to the reason why muslim women can not show their skin.

What is wrong with showing skin, the UK had a similar tradition 100s of years ago but that has slowly changed over time. I think muslim women look fat and ugly in their stupid veils. Once i saw this ninja muslim with realy nice eyes, so i said to her, it is shame you are brainwashed because i bet you are beautiful under that ninja outfit.

Why don't you lock yourself in a room that way i won't be able to see your ass through your robe. I am going to say that from now on when i see a ninja muslim. Say to her and her muslim man beater, that your wife looks so hot in that ninja outfit, i bet she has a great ass.

+1

I understand wearing a hoodie... I have lots of hoodies, but never put the hoody to cover my head/face unless It is raining, heavy snow or too sunny..
