church, gays, and a blonde

Again I think you've misinterpreted MadRapper. I can't read anywhere that he's said it isn't homophobic. Simply that demanding someone be accepting of homosexuality is as hypocritical as being someone that demands the opposite.

The Church is built on a great many hypocrisy's. Homosexuality is but one.

He used my post to reinforce his argument and my post was not designed to force acceptance. So no I don't think I misinterpreted at all.

There isn't really, God's character remains consistent throughout.
God's heart is always love and mercy and forgiveness, though because Jesus had not yet come he had to consent to the destruction of many. In Ezekiel 18 he clearly says that he delights in the death of no-one but would rather that they turn and live
:)

And Leviticus 20:13 says "If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They must be put to death."

Where does that fit....?

I repeat... House M.D. - “Rational arguments don’t usually work on religious people. Otherwise, there wouldn’t be religious people.”

Now the pink elephant behind the skirting board - now there's a god !

i think she asked a reasonable question. cause i doubt your gay brother would be allowed into a mosque or a evangelic church.

/thread.

There is closed-mindedness and ignorance on both sides. This thread gives ample additional proof that religion does not have a monopoly on either.

I disagree - I am an atheist, I do not believe in any god, I actively proclaim that there is no such thing. A cristian/muslim/aaa/bbb/ccc will all tell me with equal certainly that there is a god of whatever flavour/shape/colour their 'faith' dictates.

Now here is the difference and it is a big one. Whilst I don't ever believe this will happen, if you show me a scientifically reviewed, repeatable experiment that proves a god and I will apologise and change my mind.

I accept that proving a positive is easier than proving a negative, but very few people of faith would ever change their mind.

If one person believes in the unprovable they are called delusional, if enough people do that are deemed to have faith.

Science does not proclaim that it has the power to see all existence.

God could be in any of the myriad places where science is still blind. We haven't even fully explored our own planet...

When science is all-seeing (will it ever be?) you can ask that question again.

So you are saying that god exists in the cracks between the paving stones of scientific knowledge. So basically, god is a warm furry way of explaining the unexplained or uncomfortable ?

As the gaps in knowledge get smaller will you accept that god is ever less likely to exist (less places to hide) ?

In many ways I suspect you are right - religion is often more powerful/popular in ill-educated cultures where the gaps are greater (google "cargo cults"). I.e. god is based in ignorance.

For others god is a source of stability, of explanation - a way of always getting that feeling you got when your mum held you and told it was all fine when you were 5. I.e god is prozac.

It just doesn't add up to me - sorry.

If hes a real queen of a gay they might frown upon it but i doubt anything would be said, if so the media will be all over it and the vicar would have to retire or something lols.

Explainded?

I thought this was a blonde joke thread, turns out it was, in many ways :D

I'd like to put my thoughts out there on this one!

As culture, civilization and mankind progresses on this planet things inevitably change!
for example; There was a time when having a child before marriage was as sin and you would be turned away from the church as god disapproved!
There was a time when divorce was very ill thought of!
But now as time goes by and there are more people in that situation the attitude of the church has changed!
why has it changed? has someone rubbed out something that was said in the bible?
No! Ill tell you why it has changed, because what is morally acceptable has changed!
if the church stuck to its hardline line rules and continued waving its finger in everybodys face telling us all how bad we are then no one would bother going to church. not that a lot of people go to church in this country anyway!
Why do some people get totally drawn into believing that what is written in the bible is fact? Because they cant handle the progression and change that man has a natural instinct for and prefer we all went back to candle power, horse and cart and publicly hanging those who were outcast by religious ********!!!
There! And that is fact because i wrote on this here forum!
