***Nexus One Thread***

I love my official car dock. It has a speaker in it for handsfree/music/navigation. Really well built as well. Desktop dock isn't too bad as well although it can easily slip out and it's hard to use and you push the screen and it slips out.

Hokay, so... my mate is being an arse and says give me some examples of why to root and some decent apps, anyone?

I can think of ad free android right now, yeah mind has gone blank!

For a Nexus? CM6. That's all the example you need. Combine that with SetCPU and you have a phone which has double the battery life of the stock Froyo ROM sans SetCPU

Other lesser examples are app backup programs and ShootMe. I'm probably missing some too though

Set CPU was a pain for me. Made my phone run really slow. Homescreen switching lagged loads.

I think it was because when the phone goes into standby it downclocked, then when I unlocked it again it had to speed back up. Except it seemed like it didn't. Or was slow to do it.

Uninstalled and it was fine.

dunno st0rmer do u have a USA bought phone? vodaphone nexus was just this week.

afaik...

Anyways for some reason my screen feels smoother and my phone feels lighter... lol only kidding but it does feel good. gonna root this weekend.

Ahh, that might be it. It's a US phone :) . I manually installed 2.2 ages ago anyway though :p . It still prompted me for an OTA update for the latest build though a few weeks ago.

so im finally taking the plunge to root. I've had my phone a while now and no dust under screen and no faults. So wont need to return it unless its a brick lol.

Whats the best rom? Cyanogen seems most pop but Leofroyo seems to have a neat package!

I have something called TheOfficial. It's basically stock but with tweaks. I dont need sense and Cyanogen is to full of apps and stuff I dont want.

Same here, with the Nex Theme, it is awesome.

Enom makes great ROMS and and i always seem to get the best battery life out of them, His 1.x.x was my 2.1 ROM of choice too.

Had Kang-O-Rama before this, also good.

Cyans is good but i find it eats battery quicker than most. :(

:)

So your phone isnt rooted? And did you say you got your Froyo OTA? Is it the Vodafone OTA or the generic one? If its the generic I think you can root and in a different way, Its on XDA under the Nexus One Android Development Section. I haven't taken much notice of it personally, seeing as I'm already rooted :p

Wait a week or so and CM6 (froyo based) will have been released proper (currently RC1, but still usable)
