Built in VOIP much like L4D but a lot of people like vent/ts/mumble as you can chat to people outside of the game too. Knubje's vent server is particularly popular with OcUKers I think.
 
I guess it has FF to encourage teamwork. Else you could just all "rambo" through and not worry that you would be hitting your team.

I had my first go last night. I chose insane, and then got harrassed in the chat for being a level 1 picking insane... needless to say I died first and the mission required a tech so it was then restarted and everyone left. I then did the first two missions on normal.

I would imagine the best way to avoid FF is for each member of the team to cover a quarter of the screen each or have 2 front 2 back.

Though I would say 90% of my FF has been because of people walking in front of my shots..... this REALLY is a game that needs to be played with people you "know".

Edit: I love the fact that if you manual reload you lose the ammo from that clip. Not a lot of games (that I play) do that.

Ah, gotcha, ta. Ventrillo server is free for only 4 users, isn't it? Might give it a go.
 
Played this game for about an hour yesterday with a friend it's awesome fun. Very well designed and polished to typical Valve standards. I love it so far. I like the fact that you can't just go in all guns blazing you have to play carefully to avoid friendly fire and conserve ammo. I like the way you level up and unlock weapons / gadgets too, although it doesn't seem to take very long to get everything.

Almost hard to believe a game of this quality is free, I would've paid for it.

I wasn't a big fan of L4D1/2 but I can see this lasting a long time. :)

it's a team game, it should be played with "friends" and so you now how to play,

i would rather it be proper fps, I don't like the top down view.

Is there an easy way to make and join games with ocuk players?

Yep, just create a friends only lobby and invite people. Also, join up to FrenchTart's Alien Swarm OcUK Steam group (you could probably use the steam names list in my sig to add people as well as everyone probably has Alien Swarm since it's free)
 
I have a server now guys with multiplay. As I only have the one I won't be publicly releasing the IP just yet, but if I host a game then chances are I will be on that server. Feel free to join me. :)

If you need a server then use LOAM's SAS servers, IPs shown earlier in this thread.
