Show Us Your Motors!

It's one thing to be honest, but another to be out-right rude.

The end result is that the rest of us don't get to see now it :(

Hardly an agressive stretch, I quite like it really.

ETC

Yet he hasn't posted a single picture in this thread of any of his own exotica? At least if someone doesn't like what I've said about their car, mine is in clear view to be slaughtered :D

In fact, it's been a while...

Dont let anyone tell you otherwise, thats a clean beast! :)

There's no need to be rude though.

It's one thing to be honest, but another to be out-right rude.

Is calling a car crap, rude? Maybe, but it's not personal rudeness therefore surely within the rules. I personally don't mind if people are rude to me on the internet.

Is it me or is there serious positive camber on the front right? Maybe the angle of the photo / wheels not straight.

to be fair....you guys were harsh to him and throwing your personal attacks around about his car etc....yeah youre welcome to your opinion but theres a polite way of saying it rather than pushing someones buttons! Then as soon as he says something in return (yeah a bit ott with the swearies) hes the one in the wrong :S few people need to grow up and respect other peoples choices of cars wether in your eyes its the wrong choice or not, end of the day, not your car, not your money.

Can you not read? I just said that his car looked rubbish. That's hardly a personal attack. I tell people at work that their cars look rubbish everyday. They don't tell me to **** off. They just agree and apologise for forcing people to see it.

Well it's certainly not a disgrace of a car, maybe a bit of trend following. Captain_Slick came out with one of his cretinous comments as per usual and someone's taken exception to it. It's the way /\ndy reacted that opened the floodgates of abuse. No need to tell anyone to **** off on a forum, if you can't take someone else's opinion then don't post the car..

I really don't see how saying that his car looks rubbish is really a cretinous comment. Infact, I don't see how any of those quotes you've digged out are either. They're not as bad as some of the things you've said in response to other peoples cars. People in glass houses, an' all that.

I haven't posted pictures of my car because I don't consider it to be worthy of posting and people would probably tell me it looks rubbish. This thread isn't an internet version of Top Trumps anyway so what I drive doesn't matter in the slightest. ¬_____¬

Calling a car crap isn't particularly nice though, so it is somewhat unfair for only /\ndy to be reprimanded.

In all fairness, it was quite funny though :o

Someone's put time and effort into that car, and it looks nice and tidy. If someone called mine crap I'd tell them to **** off as well :D

I said it looked rubbish. Not crap. Are you all half illiterate or something?

He posts a picture of his car. I think it looks rubbish. I post my opinion. Similarly, many other people have posted their cars and I've said that they look awesome, wikkid, bling, etc. That's what this thread is for. I don't really appreciate being made out to be the big bad wolf when the regulars on this forum get away with much much worse.

I think there are far more civil and polite way of giving your opinion on a car. You wouldn't take the same approach in a real social situation, so why should the internet be any different?

I also believe the comments on his car were far more "personal" than him simply saying '**** off'.

For the record, I see nothing particularly wrong with it. It looks tidy enough, the stretch isn't excessive, and it sure beats the majority of chavved up motors with tasteless, over-sized wheels, neons, silly exhausts etc.

What are you going on about? The internet is different to real life for many many reasons.

If I had said "Your car looks rubbish and so do you", you might have had a point.

The car is styled how he likes it therefore you're insulting his taste/style.

Is this not a personal attack of sorts?

/devils advocate.

He's expressed an opinion that his car looks good (by doing it in the first place) - we expressed an opinion that it looks crud. Freedom of speech is a wonderful thing

10/10 for pointing out the obvious :p

I was stating that attacking his car could be classed as a personal attack not if it was the done thing to do.

How on earth can attacking someones car on the internet be a personal attack?

I think your post is best suited to a GD joke thread.

So you hate VW Polo's then?

or do you have a problem with his personal choices on how to style the car?

It's quite simple to figure out and at best I was just looking at things from another view hence the / at the end of my initial post.

Either way I don't really care, people on GD will continue to post rubbish all day long :)

Thats what I was trying to point out, that an opinion of a car cant possibly be a personal attack

Most people have slated the car in a personal way. Calling a car rubbish/crap etc isn't the same as saying "I don't like the styling" or "it's not to my taste"

GD thrives on kicking someone one way or another. When this happens it's very much a personal attack rather than just an opinion, which is what so many GD's try to fall back on when they step over the mark.

I do like Polos but (any car -ed) that looks like that makes me snigger :p

Which is fair enough if you don't like it. My point was more about a dig at someone being desguised (badly) as just an opinion.

No its not, saying a car looks crap means it looks crap, nothing more.

If you're lacking as much personality that you need to be completely defined by a car so get offended by the slightest criticism of it, you probably do need help though

It's exactly the same, just said in a less roundabout way. 'That car looks crap' = 'My feeling is that that car looks crap' = 'That car's not to my tastes'. It can only ever be the poster's opinion, so I don't think 'imo...' and 'my thoughts are that....' needs to be added all the time.

Must we really pander to the delicate in making a point? Maybe if this was a sensitive meeting of political leaders on the verge of war...but it so isn't.
