north Korea

China likes its North Korean buffer between them and a powerful South Korean military with US troops and support far too much to accept anything other than the current status quo.

I think we can all agree that inside we want a war to break out and NK to bomb the crap out of the US, and then NK and SK make friends and everyone else in the world divides up the US into equal shares and we talk over tea with the middle east and world peace is achieved.

Damn americans.

You think china will go for that?

my bet is, NK will posture china will quietly tell them to shut up, while publicly condemning the US and SK for inflaming the situation with thier war games.

the games will go on and end and everyone will posture some more and it will carry on like normal.

It was always that way, but I think now that North Korea has nuclear weapons things have changed a little. After all, absolutely nobody expected North Korea to actually go out of their sea space and attack & sink the Cheonan. On top of that, you have Kim Jong Il trying very hard to avoid being a lame duck politically, so there's a lot of highly aggressive brinksmanship. This particular NK government is on its way out.

It's almost like NK has a gun to the SK and the US' heads and there's nothing they can do about it. The more they struggle and thrash about, the tighter the trigger's being squeezed.

You might want a war to break out but most normal people don't. God bless America. :)

yep gotta wait till he dies and the more moderate people step in.

- he's "grooming" his son at the moment, assuming he isnt dead. Theres this "lesser of two evils" in the fact that his son could be far worse than him. A "liberation of leadership" isnt an option either, a revolution also requires large portions of the country to be against the leader, however as said there, from documentaries seems to be an approach very close to people's devotion, and fear of god... Taking out the leadership and running in like heroes won't work.. If you're going to invade large portions of the country need to be anhialated, which would certainly be frowned upon..

I would say that America's involvment in South Korea is one war we can hole heartadly thank them for. Their continuing involvement is a comforting one... (i am talking post korean war-although they are still at war, since i have little knoledge of what went on in that war)...

well they have a gun to SK's head (and have done since long before they;ve had nukes) but they having nothing on the us.

Their failure at their missiles tests proved they're not a threat to mainland America.

S Korea is the one to be liberated.

the USA are the evil ones that must be destroyed. I wonder how they got that impression...

As for you all saying N korea sunk the ship, it isn't 100% certain it was N korea, and apprently a torpedo couldn't have caused the clean cut off damage that happened. Also there was no internal explosion.

So mlar.

Well, you are clearly posting from the DPRK's propaganda department so this isn't really directed at you.

To the point of

"apprently a torpedo couldn't have caused the clean cut off damage that happened. Also there was no internal explosion."

Modern torpedoes work by exploding underneath the target, ideally around midships. This breaks the back of the target vessel, or even splitting it in half if the target is smaller. No internal explosion is consistent with this. Regardless, if there was no internal explosion that implies an external explosion since we are clearly not dealing with a case of metal fatigue here.

Also torpedo parts were found near the wreckage, and the investigation was done by an international team including countries such as Sweden in the hopes that only the most delusional of people may be able to claim some kind of US / South Korean conspiracy.

I think i can certainly agree that you have your head stuck all the way up your third point of contact.

Well doesn't look like WWIII has broke out just yet...

Guess NK *might* carry out one of their supposed undeground tests as a counter gesture.

Anything else would be almost too horrible to contemplate as about a minute after an NK nuke landed in SK or on the US fleet, the US would launch against NK. China would retaliate against the US and probably tactical strike on their "allies" strategic targets which, living about equi-distant between Brize Norton and RAF Lyneham pretty much guarantees a fiery end for yours truly.

It would be almost surrealistic if the potential consequences weren't so frightening...

I doubt that is what china would do. It would more then likly help the US and carve up NK for its self to keep the buffer of NK between them and american forces. There will be a agreement that the areas near china will be policed / stationed with chinnese forces. America and its allies are far more valuble to china then North korea for its economic growth, and china needs its economic growth to keep the populous happy.
