Why do people act like this?

What could I have said? "yes, I'll happily get on the ground and beg"

How about telling them to **** themselves ? Then like i said hit the first guy who comes at you in the nose or bottom of the chin with the palm of your hand, fingers curled in, arm 90% straight, from your chest, lean forward slightly.

I gaurantee if you had done that you would have dropped him and his friends wouldnt have a clue what to do. if you can show a pack of youths that you can take someone out quickly with no fuss, and that someone is normally the bolder one, they wont join in. And they would never bother you again. Instead, everytime they see you now they will either punch you again (or your brother) or hurl abuse.

twoblacklines is like Platinum87, I would take anything he says with a MASSIVE pinch of salt.

You dont have a clue who i am mate :) I was like the OP once...where did it get me ? 5 years of bullying and 3 years of therapy, vs one or two thrown punches...

In this country, with our values, and our society, everything you say, is just NOT acceptable.

"Our society", you mean white society? Digging yourself deeper.

Seriously just lighten up a bit and go with the flow. If you actually opened your mind to new cultures you might even make some friends. Personally I really like vibrant African culture.

A cinema is not a black African church. How you can confuse the two I don't know, considering you've experienced it in person.

A cinema is a place where ANYONE should be allowed to go, not just pasty faced anglo saxon protestants.

Dude. how many times do I have to say this?
You are missing the point!

This has absolutely nothing to do with African culture, why can you not realise that? Are you telling me that it should be perfectly acceptable for people to swear and be abusive and violent in a cinema?

Not where they are from. And it's not just the cinema, if you've ever been to an African church you'll see it there too. It's perfectly acceptable cultural behaviour.

Would you go to a Black Baptist church in the USA, or an African Church and start telling people to STFU because they are too loud?? I would hope not!

Request: Please change this guys name to "berk".

There is so much idiocy in your posts i'm not sure where to start - luckily it's a Friday afternoon, so instead of playing this new "Air Traffic Control" game on my Desire, i will instead attempt to address your points.

A) A cinema in Harrow, UK is not a Black Baptist Church in the USA.

B) Secondly, it maybe their custom to yell at the cinema screen in Uganda, but not in the UK. If i visit Uganda/Kenya, i will follow their local customs, if Ugandan's/Kenyan's come here, surely they should follow the local customs of the UK? Sounds fair to me?

C) I highly doubt the moron's that repeatedly punched the OP and threw pennies at his brother are Ugandan/Kenyan. I suspect they are from Mongolia, therefore i would call them *****.

D) Where was the racism in this thread?

E) They were racist towards the OP!

F) I seem to have lost my BNP magazine. In it's absence, may i please borrow your Liberty.org mag? Kkthx

What the hell are you going on about?

Our society means British. I'm only 1/4 English, but I'm British. So what's your problem? I've lived in several countries and know and love diversity and culture. However, when I go to the cinema, I don't want to be disturbed by kids, or have my 10yr old brother exposed to disgusting behaviour. I've been to Africa a few times, and I love it there, love the culture - but I do as they do in their country, and enjoy the culture where it's part of their way of life.

In the UK, I do as the Brits expect of me to do. I don't go there imposing my values on them - except for a bit of food snobbery! ;)

Of course the cinema is a place where anyone can go, and anyone does go, but I don't expect to be disturbed by people or receive racist or physical threats when trying to enjoy a movie. Especially not in front of a younger sibling. If in Africa a cinema has lots of wooping and chatting I'd just accept it, and also understand that I didn't pay for the same experience.

I think you need to open your mind a little old bean - you're ever so close minded.

There is an awful lot of ignorance, racism and intolerance in this thread

....

You guys really need to check yourselves and think about their culture or their parents culture, because IMO that's perfectly acceptable behaviour and you guys are showing a lot of intolerance.

If you don't like it, DON'T GO. You can stay home and read your BNP magazines

Wow, that is some of the most hypocritical tripe I have seen posted. Not to mention:

Go to any urban cinema in the States and it's the same. That cultural group just enjoys the cinema experience in a more vocal and active manner.

Having been to different cinemas in North Carolina and Texas, this is the biggest load of BS. Some of the smaller cinemas only have a few screens and no security. Whilst watching a film in NC, a couple of red necks started being loud and vulgar, prompting a member of the audience to shout out "hey, shut up *** hole!". As you guessed, they didn't so the guy who asked them to shut up dragged them to the door and kicked them out the door. Applause ensued from the audience and 5 seconds later all was quiet.

Are you for real? You really think FF was referring to white people when he said "society"? W-ow.

You basically saying that just because we don't want people shouting and throwing stuff in the cinema, that we are closed minded and racist? Seriously, have a day off mate.

A cinema is a place where ANYONE should be allowed to go, not just pasty faced anglo saxon protestants.

Now who is being racist? Of course everyone can go to the cinema, but there is a code of acceptable conduct - like everywhere else.

FWIW, when i go to the cinema, i tend to enjoy watching the film, and not hearing people shout out/throw stuff around. But, that's just me ofc.

First of all, I missed this thread when it first appeared, so congratulations OP! You did well standing up for yourself and what I believe to be doing the right thing!

I think perhaps you should have made the effort to skip past the fatties and formally complain to the cinema staff/security, given the fact you had your little brother with you it might have been best to avoid any conflict for his sake. You both came out alright so no harm done, plus you showed him it's alright to stand up to people. Even though it could have been a lot worse.

It amazes me that people go and don't understand the concept of respecting other people in that situation. I mean I can go to the cinema with 10+ friends sometimes and not cause any trouble, annoy anyone and just enjoy the film with everyone else.

You've done well, perhaps speak with your brother and make sure he is cool with it all and perhaps try and explain that you would have spoken to someone at the cinema but thought it was best to say something directly at the time; although in hindsight you should have not bothered as you never know what people will do.

Finally, lol @ berk/troll.

dude

no.

we dont want vibrancy at the cinema. when you are communally preaching to god, thats fine everyone is there to preach or be a part of that preaching.

when you go to the cinema, you go to watch a film, NOT have a load of &%"!%$ shout the odds and muck about during the film spoiling it for everyone else.

you'd have to be a right dip %^&* to not realise that those actions are RUINING not improving the film for everyone else, regardless of your culture.

You've spouted plenty of nonsense in other threads, I don't think anyone will listen to what you have to say.

Considering you just told him he should have got on his knees and begged, then accused him of not standing up for himself?

Dear oh dear.

As I've said before though, I'm being hit with paranoid thoughts about seeing them in harrow again, and then being bothered by them. I only really have to go once more this year though hopefully. I've decided it's going to be September 4th, early Friday morning, to get some folders in time for school

Don't be paranoid about it mate, I honestly doubt they'd recognise you again. Plus you are likely to spot them just as much as they will spot you, in which case turn and walk the other way or somewhere reasonably safe.

It's honestly not worth worrying about.

Due to attitudes in the cinema I try to only go to very early showings or showings at the IMAX as people don't mess about when they pay £12 a ticket!

I never said that, i said he should have told them to **** themselves instead, dont twist my words ;)

You dont believe what i say so you call it "nonsense" well i dont believe your male so thats obviously "nonsense" right ?

URBAN, or what you might disparagingly call "ghetto", not SUBURBAN. You don't see "rednecks" (BTW that's a racist term in itself) in urban cinemas.
