Is it shallow to like a girl based on her appearance?

Love is inherently utilitarian in my opinion. Therefore, it is by consequence, inherently selfish.

Yes.

An observation: When someone acts purely out of self-interest, we consider that despicable. When two people act purely in the interest of the couple (ie two people in love) we consider that a beautiful expression of humanity.

Thoughts?

To the OP: There is a reason 99% of the women on tv shows are fit -- because men and women are more interested in seeing them and what they have to say.

If Willow was played by a 18 stone heffer the 'buffy' programme would become a joke within about 5 seconds. Just the way of the world ..

In my opinion, yes it is shallow, plenty of men and women that are like it though. I tend to try and avoid those though, far too self absorbed for my taste usually.

If a girl has a looks how could you not be attracted to her? Of course, there's a lot more to it than that but I think that the first thing that both men and women look for are the looks.
