When you next in London dude?

I've found adding skipping twice a week has helped lots, as well as walking more. But my calories are slightly lower at the moment.

I was due to do week 6 of SL 5x5 (beginner) last week but was sent to Dublin for work. I thought a week off would do me some good. Did it heck. Was sensible when I got back into the gym on Monday and thought I would repeat the week I finished on but I couldn't even manage my 5x5 bench@55kg 5,5,4,3,3. Annoying, because I've already done it before! Will try again tomorrow. Was up to around 65kg on my squat and although I managed 5x5 OK I wasn't happy with my form - I was sort of coming up lop sided (dominant quad?). Have dropped back down to 50kg to concentrate on my form and ensuring I engage my quads equally - am also looking to slow down the whole movement down and up. On the flip side I did manage 1 rep @ 80kg on the DL!
SL has been pretty good so far; I am going to give it another 5/6 weeks then move onto a different program - squatting three times a week is pretty demanding for me despite the modest weights involved.

Good progress mate - I am currently doing stronglifts 5x5 aswell but to be fair I have moved more quickly than the programme suggests on squats, bench and deads.
I am loving the programme and feel stronger than ever.
Bench - 55
Squat - 75
Dead - 85

Gonna stick at it for another 8 weeks, i should be able to get my squat up past 130, then its time for split training.

Not again until December, unless I have to do a theory resit :p

Only takes me 40 minutes to get into central London so doesn't take long if a few of us fancy meeting up and training.

I'll be mid cut so small and weak like a girl :p

Managed my first ever 5 minute Mile today guys :D

Next step is to do it and not see spots afterwards though :p Exaggerating a little there, but I was knackerd afterwards

Awesome stuff!

I managed 2.8km in 12 minutes a few weeks ago.

Bear in mind I run very occasionally and the basis of my training revolves around packing on as much mass as possible onto my 5ft10" frame which hovers around the 14 stone mark.

Having not done any real cardio since March I was quite impressed! My asthma wasn't though and I was completely blowing for a good 20 minutes after!

Preping/easily myself into cutting so hopefully a decrease in bf will keep this to a minimum. Also decided to see what some bio-oil will do, expensive but I had some cash lying around so will take some before shots & after shots after about 2 months. Not sure if I can expect much as I'll still be growing though I'll be happy if it just halts them a bit!:

Id be quite interested to know how that bio-oil works for you. I currently don't get particularly bad stretch marks as Im pretty much at maintenance atm but would like to reduce visibility of old ones on my hips/stomach from being a fatty. The ones all up my lats from muscle aren't too bad and can be worn with pride :p.

Sure thing, I've got an SLR coming this week so should be able to get some very decent shots of them (as minging as they are).

I didn't really mind them being in my arm pits, slightly across my chest and front of my shoulder as they weren't that noticable. But coming down the front of the bicep doesn't look very nice. On the very first ones I got you could see where the collagen was stretching and they've now gotten even wider! and a little longer. At this rate they'll each be over 1cm wide within a few months or so and are currently stretching over an area 14-15cm long and about an inch in width :(

Mmmm cant wait ;)

Ive got some on one of my biceps too (yay for lack of symmetry?) from being a fatty I think and they're completely white now. I think times a great healer for stretch marks.

Thanks fellas.

Yesterday I felt okay today I woke up with a lot of DOMS. I saw something quite disturbing, veins were popping of calves like I've never seen them before. There was one about the size of my pinky finger, that was not normal!

Wow Shadow, still qiote impressive that you tried that and didn't get squashed!

You need to slow down though, I need to catch up on the squat first before you are allowed to do a proper 190kg. :p
The second set by far had the most comedy value I got to same position but I held it there for approx 7 seconds, I wasn't going anywhere.

Seems like my dream of hitting 200KG before I left was not going to happen :(

Plenty of time to catch up, I'm done with this small body :(

Indeed. You're an inspiration mate. :)

I won't post me doing a 190kg to wind you up don't worry :p

*runs*
When I eventually get to a meet, mark my words. I will bring duct tape and I will put it against that carpet living on your chest :D

Unlucky DS, can't watch the video at work but I understand the frustration.
Ah man, I had 4 attempts at that 190KG I just couldn't accept defeat. It came up on the third but it bounced off the pins, I couldn't count that as a rep. I'm going again for it tomorrow (not ideal but at least I can take it easy knowing I tried).

I'm sure you're going to exceed your previous lifts, keep at it :)

I went for 1rm deadlift just now and did 140kg. I'm 6ft 3 and 13 stone.I'm skinny but chuffed with that lift : )

Did 100 and 120 first. No doubt my back will hurt tomorrow lol

Nope but i have been putting the weights up faster than suggested so I expect to stall soon :)
Squat was 80kg today, deads at 90kg but i really really try to nail my form on this :) overhead press at 30KG (this kills my arms)
I still can't pull up, but going to buy some bands, and a bar for the house :)
Gonna stick with the programme for a couple months yet :) Things will stall and might now even go up at all at a certain level but i love it!

Severe chest doms today :D

Might have something to do with the fact i did all my chest routine with dumbells on a bench because some chavs were hogging the smith.
Was much better on my wrist and i felt a much improved ROM to the smith.

Anyway off to work :(:(

is interval training good for you ? I'm trying to add a one off interval running session a week to my gym sessions now on recommendation from one of the trainers. Currently doing the gym 5 times a week - normally do a 6-7k run followed by 25 minutes of weights or so.

today tried a 4 minute warm up run, then 1 1/2 minutes at full pelt @ 15k/hr and then 1 1/2 mins walking at 6k/hr - felt really easy for first 4 lots, but my heart rate just got higher and higher in each high intensity period - I think max was about 188.

total distance over 31 minutes was 5k but I felt absolutely drained, more so than my normal continous run @ 11.5k/hr.

weight is getting a bit stubbon to remove now ... was 13.5 stone or there abouts, now 11.5 but coming off slower and slower

biggest problem I have is back ache and aching legs - no matter how much I stretch after exercise.

I'm normally fine unless I stay still for too long then start seizing up ...

HIIT - high Intensity interval training.

If you can manage intense intervals for 1 and a half minutes you're either superhuman or they aren't intense enough.

When doing intervals I favoured the rower as you can instantly switch to flat out without having to wait for anything to speed up.

Work rest ratio's should be 20/40 for no more than 20 minutes or if you fancy some tabata protocol for 4 minutes at 20/10.

Had some awesome pancakes for breakfast, put a little honey on them and nommed them all up.

I'm gonna start having them more often, taste so damn good.

Edited to take out swearies :p

On the topic of food; Some big muscle bound guy thought he would chew down on his hard boiled eggs in the gym. He was plowing through them popping them like pills after every set. Problem being he stank the bloody gym out.

That sounds rank, I don't know why he'd eat and workout, I'd feel sick if I ate while I was lifting.

On another note I just had a brill bench day today, the past 2 weeks my benches have looked like this:
77.5 x6, 72.5 x8, 72.5 x8 and 70 x8
80 x6, 75 x8, 72.5 x8 and 70 x8

But today, somehow I knocked out 80 x8, 77.5 x8, 75 x8 and 72.5 x8

Feels good man.
