I do not condone into pirating but I was wondering if theres any difference from legit windows and pirated windows as I do believe you can still get updates with the pirated version as many of my customers have it.

and whats your opinion on this?

Regards,
Nick.

There is no difference, just one is cracked and one isn't. If you install a cracked copy there's no sure way of telling whether any vulnerabilities have been added during the cracking process. :)

piracy is bad..
anyway on a side note pirate copy cost nothing the real thing cost £100+ depending on the version

i don`t like using pirated copies of windows as :

(a) you don`t know what comes on the disc, i.e. a keylogger, backdoor stuff.
(b) can cause unstablities if you can`t get an update
(c) you can`t access xp portion as you have to download that and windows validates the pc first.

there is an upside to this, but microsoft has issued a beta version of windows 7 last year to run on pcs for a while.

try before you buy. a lot of people were peeved about vista as it wasn`t a great os. rather the opposite,

but i`m going to be buying a copy of windows 7 pro for my build. other people sell the pirated copy of windows with their computer to make it worth more. but you are more liable to get into trouble with the police/ms etc...

I do not condone piracy.

But just to clear things up...

a) It is possible to pirate windows using a 100% legitimate disk and so gaurentee no malware

b) you can still use windows update

c) you can pass the validation checks

..but its still copyright infringement and so is not worth it.

Pirated versions will work, but at some point in the near future an update will bodge the crack and then you will get activation messages.

Basically, just get a legit copy of windows. It isn't cheap but as long as you get the retail version you have it for life.

legal less hassile in the long run

plus you know what is on the ISO

its all well and good people here saying if its just a copy of the generic but you don't know that on a torrent site you have to take thier word for it.

unless you done it yourself of course ;p

You can get the full version for under £100 and no hassle involved. Simples.

Mine happened to come with my laptop so that was easy!

First I would like to say I bought a sub £50 copy of 7HP before launch.

but it is possible to have a trustworthy downloaded copy, as said above make sure the hash matches the ones listed on MS's website.

A crack isn't always need as some people use a Slic modded bios.

This method I would guess is almost impossible to detect.

Personally I think OEM copies should be £50 -for Home Premium

I bought 3x copies of Home Premium Retail, when they were £45 each

Well I was a bit annoyed paying for Vista only for Windows 7 to come out nearly right away ha.

Each version of windows has always been replaced by a newer version in 3-4 years. XP was an exception that wasn't replaced for longer than it should have been due to Longhorn/Vista being delayed.
