*** The 2010 Gym Rats Thread ***

Hmm, yes that might be the case, need to get a bit more of a powerlifter stance.

AGVT is only 5 reps (10 sets with 4s agonising negatives though) so I'm only doing about 40 squats to be fair, which is still rather challenging considering I'm going for 75-80% of my 1rm, SLDL sounds a bit more humane I guess, I suppose I could go for lower weight and still be better off than doing those annoying hammstring curls.

You can't train through injuries unfortunatley :(

It's a reciepe for disaster as it'll never be able to fully heal. I can't remember/haven't been around to read what the problem is however no matter how big or small the injury may be time off is always welcome.

You may have to focus on a different area of your training while it heals up. It might not be what you want to do but it may well be that or nothing at all.

Edit: *Touch wood* my rotator cuffs behave now though I'm still always very conscious of putting undue strain on them which is why I've never been keen on 'the snatch' as my shoulder stability with moves like this isn't brilliant. Better than it was but it doesn't inspire confidence!

I've got some lovely tendonitis i my right arm. Nice old Tennis Elbow.

Although it's so bad I can't even grip the bar when squatting, or lift the 20-25kg plates.

How frustrating!

Deffinatley rest it up mate and get some professional advice :)

Maybe some light stretching, if it's not too painful, of the shoulder, biceps, triceps, traps and the forearm itself etc as it's all linked.

Felt a slight twinge on the inside of my right knee this morning in the shower, have a feeling it was just some ligaments or tendons that were still half asleep either that or I must have slept funny. Felt fine when squatting yesterday. Was a very sharp pain when I flexed my quads so am being careful not to twist my knee today!

Calling the doc today for an appointment, as soon as they open at 9:00.

Strangely stretching doesn't really hurt it all that much, but I can't even apply the slightest bit of force with my arm without pain. It's rather annoying getting pain when brushing your teeth :p

In your case you better take is easy, the last place you want an injury is your knee. Basically makes you immobile.

But I always get the odd twitch in my body, I always get twitches in my left eye when deadlifting or squating over 2x bodyweight :p

Went for a run last night trying to beat my 22 mins for 3 miles I was going really well passing a fat woman jogging along on the way and then the worst stitch I've ever had came on in my stomach.

So here I am on the side of the road swearing and getting mad because my time was really good then I was sick then the fat lass past me :(

Still managed to roll home in pain in 25mins, bugger that hurt lol.

I must admit the last 6 weeks HITT have made me feel fitter then ever before.

I'm hoping my niggles will go over the 2 weeks I have off. Although I will be swimming etc... it'll all be relatively low impact.

Rest is key, and almost impossible to do :(

Tell me about it. I need to be completely off my arm and not do anything.

But that's so hard, considering you use your arm daily :(

Not to mention I need my training, I feel dirty without it.

Two weeks to go - the holiday. Trainining at the moment is intense. Will be glad for holiday to arrive as my body is screaming out for a rest. The last few days i have been taking Udo's choice with my meals, God! that stuff is vile. Im gagging trying to eat the stuff.

Had some awesome pancakes for breakfast, put a little honey on them and nommed them all up.

I'm gonna start having them more often, taste so damn good.

Edited to take out swearies :p

Just tried these and I agree. Have to cook well on the inside by doing it on a while for a low heat though otherwise you get warm cottage cheese taste pouring out lol

My left delt & right pec like to twitch a lot. Infact sometimes they'll even slightly contract as they do resulting in some involuntary movement. Sort of like when you wake yourself up from a dream by twitching :p

Hey guys I'm after some advice/opinions.
I've started to get into some powerlifting to try and build my overall strength & put on some size.
I've been doing this now for about 5 months and the past 2 months I have gotten serious about it.

I lift 4 times a week (Mon, Tue, Thur, Fri). I am normal fine with it and excited to get into the gym. But the past few days I have just been feeling sore in my hands, back & legs.

I'm really worried, possibley too paranoid about if I take some time off that I will lose the size and strength I have worked so hard to put on.

What advice can you experts give?

I'm no expert buddy but I'd have a week off It'll give your body a good rest.

You'll not lose any strength in a week and you'll go back feeling stronger. Just eat well and rest up.
