Pro Evolution 2011

I really hope PES gets it right this year, most people seem to agree that their 'next-gen' versions haven't been up to scratch (although for me, I really enjoyed PES09. 2010 is terrible though).

The early signs from people who have played the early builds are sounding quite good. As long as they can fix the goalkeepers, which seems to be the main complaint from the most recent builds, hopefully they will regain some of their old fan base.

I've seen the potential in the last couple of FIFA games, but I can never really get into them for some reason.

Why is 2010 worse than 2009? The online is much much better and I find the gameplay better too. Not to mention the graphics are much improved. The faces in 2010 look life like.

I hope they sort out the problem with official game patches nerfing peoples option file edits. This basically stopped me getting into a proper master league game in PES2010, I only ended up playing normal leauge and cups due to this.

Just personal preference really. It definitely looks much better than 09 and performed better online (though still not as smooth as I'd hope).

Just feels a bit clunky and unresponsive to me gameplay-wise though. I've tried giving it another chance the last 2-3 months, but I just don't get any enjoyment out of it sadly.

:P hahaha

it was better than 6 though. had it modded with fifa commentary, chants, and english writing. best gameplay ever IMO, and very fun. though fifa 10 surpasses it in gameplay, but not fun.

The world cup game is the best footy game i have ever played and i been there with pes games fully modded up afs explorer etc even mad emy own chants etc.

ahh well i havet given the wc game a chance as i am not spending full price on that game for a couple months worth of play. plus, now the jump to fifa 11 should be better :)

I'm seriously considering PES this year. I've been traditionally FIFA but I don't hear ANY of the things that I wanted to see being implemented in FIFA this year. Seems like they are going back to the mid 2000's where every iteration was identical save for a stupid gimmick. I'll save my full reservations until both games have a playable demo out, but I have to say that PES is definitely on my radar now.

It's been the same hype since the last the four or five versions with this game.

The overhauls, the improvements, the online lag fix etc, etc.

Looking at the videos, it doesnt suggest to be anything drastically different from the previous dross.

Well for one, it's the first PES with proper 360 degree dribbling isn't it?

We shall see :)

The biggest problem is the dev team at the Konami PES department.

As the last four or five versions have shown.

Knowing what you said about the move to 360 dribbling from FIFA 09 to 10 - I find that comment to be more negative than anything if thats the feature thats the pick of the bunch...

ps3ud0

Going on the videos it looks a much more realistic portrayal of a football match than FIFA currently does. FIFA passing is quite ping-pongy, you can mostly rely on pressing X or Triangle without even looking or aiming and it will go to a team mate, the only way to counter that is to turn off the assists which makes it overly sensitive in terms of using the analogue stick in split second intervals between passes. So it's either let the CPU do it all for you which gets pretty boring, or it's try and live with the assists turned off which is probably the most frustrating thing ever. PES has a better balance in that regards and from what I've seen so far PES has just vastly improved it's passing mechanics and added to it.

I'm not saying that last years PES was better than FIFA 10 because on the whole it wasn't. The majority of FIFA's success lies in the online club and online head to head games. The manager mode has absolutely no depth whatsoever, there are very few, if any decent, engrossing single player modes. We were promised that FIFA 10 would revamp manager mode and it didn't, it made a few slight adjustments that actually made the game worse than it was before.

The only area that I would say FIFA has PES licked is the presentation, and by that I mean the licenses and the commentary. If what I've read is true for the next iteration of FIFA then all we can look forward to is Personality Plus which upon reading into just seems like yet another random aspect which can drastically change the players performance per game for absolutely no reason whatsoever other than to "make it realistic". I'd like to decide whether I play **** or not, not some random element that EA deem necessary. They need to take a look at the NHL series to see how to properly enhance a sports game year after year, because I'm concerned that FIFA is going to slip back into it's mid 2000's add a new gimmick each year type affair.

I didn't say anything about FIFA10's 360 dribbling? It was THE only change from 09 that made sense.

If only PES had a Clubs mode, I wouldn't buy both. :p

I don't care what version is best.

I just wan't both games to be good with their own individual appeal.

You know, variety is the spice of life etc.

Personally, especially PES, the last few versions of both games haven't been for me.

I want the game that plays the most realistically, with the best offline modes and a decent, lag free online that I can go into now and again. I'll wait for both demos and then make my mind up, I don't think I'd want to spend £30+ each on two football games.

How has no one mentioned the 90 degree turn thing on PES2010 that is comfortably the worst thing implemented in any game ever?
