Although i'm pretty new here, i do have an eye for design.

I must say that when i jumped ship from the other forum & came here, first thing that put me off logging in was the design of this forum....

Am i the only one who thinks it's a bit heavy on the eyes & can be quite unpleasant to look at for long periods of time? :(

This is one of the (if not the) most visually pleasant forums on the internet. The design of this forum is one of the reasons I stuck around.

I very much like the white text on darkish blue background, it draws your attention straight to the text in the post, for each post.

Also, having only a few stickies at the top of the forum is great, as you can see the new posts/threads at the top without having to scroll :D

It's simple, doesn't have flashing or animated sigs and avatars. It's neat, tidy and efficient at conveying information across to other members interested in reading your thoughts.

The two best things for me, visually, are the limitations put on sigs, and the lack of custom avatars. Those two things make these forums so, so much easier to browse. The colour scheme is pleasant as well.

I quite the forum design, simple and I find it easy to read and look through. Agree with limitations on the sigs and avatars.

I have to agree with the above comments especially the fact the colour scheme is easy on the eyes. Other forums with their bright White background and dark text can at times through long periods of viewing give me a slight headache.. I'm yet to get one from trawling through here which is fantastic when you find yourself reading almost everything.

Give us a few examples of forums you think are easier on the eye.

Gotta say I prefer reading against a dark background, if I were using FF I'd have installed the black script a while back. However, it's still pretty dark here.

sure is.

ive been on other forums and seen those stupid childish flashing sig's or what ever you call them and it just look's pathetic.

this one is the best around and as freefaller said "it's neat and tidy"

It's true there is a sense of uniformity here, no flash sigs, avatars are kept within a narror range as well. I don't think the OP was talking about that though.

I've never had a problem, I like that fact that there are no sigs that take up half the screen and the white text on blue isn't tiring on the eyes. OcUK is better than the vast majority of forums I visit :)

I like it, i like the white on blue colour (although it took a little bit of getting used to) and i love the neatness of the avatars/sigs.

One of the simplest designs - but also one of the best.

All avatars are the same size/style, all signatures are limited in size, and it's clean.
