What would you like to see from PC Gaming in 5 years?

I'd actually like PC gaming to be like plugging into the matrix. 5 years might not be enough time though :p

All games to have 100% uncrackable piracy protection although that would probably fnish off the PC market for gaming though :( I buy all my games but not a single m8 at work with a PC buys legit software which is kinda depressing really. The others own consoles and just play MW2 which is equally depressing. No wonder a lot of top games sell a few thousand copies.

Oh and Fallout 5 and the next Valve game after Portal 2 would be good also.

I don't see much changing to be honest in the next 5 years, it seems we are going backwards actually atm. No company wants to take any risks, it's all getting mainstream and it's all about maximising profits.

I want to see less console exclusives and more quality pc games. Bring on Diablo 3.

realistic boob jiggling physics

Breast physics is something that must be correctly implemented in the future I much look forward to this.

Cloud computing at its best ..

Screenshots/audio streamed over to you, keyboard and mouse controls streamed back to THE MOST POWERFUL COMPUTER IN THE WORLD that handles all the people playing at that time.

In 50 years time it's going to be considered ridiculous that we all had individual PCs, that sat doing precisely zero, in fact TURNED OFF, for the majority of the time! We're going to turn to ultra-thin client .. it's already happening in business (see Citrix) .. home next.

Madness!

While I agree it will happen 5 years is way to early, I'd be suprised if we see a PS4 before then :p a complete switchover to cloud computing is gonna take a while.

For the meantime Steam needs to be regarded as the PC platform, just as XBL and PSN are for their console counterparts. Devs/pubs complain about piracy/buying second hand games/ they waste time on systems for chatting etc etc when they should just create the core game and let Steam do the rest, it's staring them right in the face and it's starting to annoy.

All PC games to be released on Steam and Steam only.

It would make PC gaming so much easier for the masses and show them that it really is the best platform to play games on.

A PS3 user in the comments section of some news post I was looking at, said he'd actually consider PC gaming if Steam was the platform just because he said it would be easier. So it really would appeal to more people.

Steam isn't going to stop piracy. I wouldn't want them to be the only ones allowed to sell games, that's just retarded. They could charge whatever they wanted if they were the only ones selling games.

I would like to see cloud gaming making impressive advances over the next 5 years.

No offence to our console dwelling friends but someone too retarded to install a game without steam is not who i want on my team in mp games, or the pc games market catering for :o

I would like to see more time and energy spent on the story lines of games. An FPS is an FPS is an FPS. Point. Shoot. An RTS is an RTS is an RTS. Point. Click. All games these days have great graphics. What really separates games these days is the story. Unfortunately most games have a really generic storyline that feels like an after thought.

In 5 years I want epic stories that will drag you into the game and not spit you back out until you either finish the game or your bladder explodes. With a fantastic story you don't need graphical or gameplay gimmicks to sell a game.

Ok it's not going to stop it all but it would be a better situation than the current DRM or no DRM at all. I didn't say they could be the only ones to sell games, retail stores can still sell steamworks games on disc whether online or in store.

I'm sure he knew how to install a game, I'm guessing he didn't like the idea of finding patches etc, if it makes game developers at least look at PC gaming as an equal rather than a bit on the side then I'd be up for it.

You don't need to be a console retard to prefer Steam as a platform. I love Steam and buy most of my games through it [it is not often I buy a game at launch so usually wait for the Steam deals :D].

It's great to have all your games in one place that are automatically updated and easily managed. The only concern I have is what happens to DRM protected games if Steam ever ran out of uhm steam. Though I would like to think some other mechanism would be put in place to allow you to continue using Steam games.
