Finance haters gonna hate :-)

This whole thread gets a big fat.

29 pages in one day? What the?

I've came in far too late. :(

But from what I've gathered it's around 7.5k over 5 years but with interest end up paying 9k?

Ouch. If it really was just something for getting to A to B he wouldn't have paid so much over such a long time. But I guess... It's the monthly payments. :(

I wasn't referring to you Fox, someone else said it in the first couple of pages. And someone else suggested the Jag.

Your point about superminis was exactly the point I was thinking about but didn't communicate. There is absolutely no way most people want a big saloon in their life, especially if they live in town. For example I sit in a load of stop-start in most of my journeys. There is no way I'd want a big car doing that. Neither would I want the hassle of trying to squeeze it into the parking spaces round here. It's just different horses for different courses, why can't anyone on here accept that?

Edit: Paradigm trying to justify the 530i and Moeks suggesting the Jag.

I was being serious...

The 530i Sport is not the pinnacle of motoring, it in fact does the same job as a i10, moves you from one place to another.

A little quicker where traffic allows, but I bet no quicker around town :)

I said...

No offence but an i10 is the equivalent of dog turd stuck to the bottom of your shoe. A 530i, at least you are sat in comfort whilst waiting at traffic lights.

That's the only real time the 530i has been mentioned.

As I have stated before in this thread, I did not suggest he should buy a Jag, I simply used it as an example of what you 'could' have for the same sort of money. However that argument was kind of made irrelevant anyway by the simple fact that he could have had a brand new i10 on finance for less than the one he has bought, which there really isn't any logical way to counter.

For heaven's sake I wish people would read what was 'actually' said before they start spouting off. So for the last time, I did not say he should buy a Jag ...it was purely a convenient example since it happened to be the same price.

You could also have posted a Rolex or a big pile of PC equipment, it would have been just as valid an input.

At no point did I try to justify anything other than a supermini for the OP's situation. I was merely backing up the ludicrous claim that a 530i of that age was as rubbish as an i10.

I think this i10 video sums up this thread:

My other half got a 59 plate i10 on the scrappage scheme for just over £5,000. Nice to know that it has appreciated in value...

Her taste. :D

oh you are a lucky guy owning such a fine german piece of engineering... I know you think you are as you earlier harped on about BMWs carbon impregnated plastics... maybe your lack of real life impregnation has something to do with this :D

seriously though, the car snobbery in this forum is pretty daft.... surprised a box of metal on wheels can evoke such feelings

i couldn't care less what anyone drives, you choose a tin box, you drive it... saves walking, you know how it works :-)

at end of day what someone pays is up to them, and I now see the error of my ways, I should have waited 3 weeks, spotted the better deal on net with my time machine, took out a lower APR bank loan and saved £10 a week. The other option I now find is I could have paid more monthly for a new car, why didn't I think of that!

how am I gonna live with myself ;) ...how are you all gonna live with this crazy deal, well.. your not.

It's a forum filled with car enthusiasts, what do you expect ? ...anyway you can talk, you're a biker and I often hear bikers go on about the superior experience they get on a bike and how in touch they are with their surroundings and how fast they are etc. I'm not saying that you do this, but a good number of bikers do.

It's just the 'loathe' aspect, that's got zero to do with car enthusiasm, and everything to do with irrationality..

That's not what everyone's bothered about at all. That's finance for you.

It's the fact that he's paying that much for a 2 year old used Hyundai i10. Although I suspect it would have gone the same way even if he'd bought a brand new one.

I mights start a thread in the bike forum saying I've bought a second hand chinese moped with money from a loan shark for the price of a new Japanese sport bike.
