International recognition of the offending organisation generally make that distinction, not individuals.

but you break it down to a component level and it is individuals who comprise any said panel and then use judgement/bias to make that distinction.

unless u know of a way that multiple humans can hook their brains up to an aggregator that decides in an non individualistic manner/

I discussed this with my wife and she is of the opinion that when I was in Afghanistan she would have found it highly insensitive if she came across people playing the Taliban and killing ISAF troops for entertainment.

She also said that if it were after the conflict, like WW2 or Vietnam shooters or generic like MW2 then she would not find it insensitive.

I agree with her. It is the fact that it is a current conflict that is being used as entertaininment and not the game iself that is insensitive.

But it all depends on your own POV and experience I suppose.

I don't see why something being in the past makes it suddenly ok?

The Nazi's killed far more British troops than the taliban have and probably ever will, yet we play as them in 75% of FPS games made, and nobody cares.

People are being silly if they find this insensitive, if you are upset by it don't play the game. Simple.

they may use the Wehrmach colours but this is not the same as the nazi swastica.

infact someone was interrogated by the police in a town where i live for sporting a swastica during a ww2 dress up weekend. citing 'racial aggrivation' for wearing it as the reason for telling him to remove it. despite the item not being banned in the uk

Nazis loved their big flags, and game developers love a big fire fight in a hall with Nazi banners all over the place.

I was playing BFBC2 yesterday killing Americans. My American friend had to cry himself to sleep at the thought of it :/
